That thing means business, if he isn't getting through with chains, it's not open.

If you have the time when I'm in state. come along! Rather have people with than alone. But I'm preparing for that scenario.
Thank you! I'm happy to know about that. very pretty view right there in itself.

Yikes. I worry if it even melts off, by october it will start having new snow drifts.

Tincup looks to be another one to try- trails offroad states it's open... there's just so many choices. Tincup pass makes sense tho. if we switch up to leave from the denver area and circle around to CS on the way back to missouri. I would be starting in crested butte. Mirror lake is a definite pull for this pass. Allows us more time near CS and the free cabin in cripple creek.

I just spent four days in the Tin Cup Pass area. Very easy trails, just bumpy. Same with Pomeroy Lake, Baldwin Lake and Hancock Lake trails.

Honestly it's hard to assess what the trails will be like in another 1.5 months. It's very variable. I suggest checking back in here and also with the respective ranger districts.

Yes i will be sure to check up as i get into denver and have alternatives.

Glad to hear tincup is easy. Im not looking for super technical stuff all the way out there anyways. If anything ive been told theres a couple short trails to wheel near the cabin in cripple creek. So take in the views elsewhere, and find some dirt and rock there.

Tin Cup Pass is a nice trail, I did it last summer for the first time in a stock Jeep Grand Cherokee.

That means something so much different now than it used to. SUVs across all makes in general tend to make it a little more meaningful.

As in stock vehicles are better quality than before? Grand Cherokee's have always been a decently capable vehicle.

Mine was a piece of crap (but great in the snow), Think I averaged $1K in maintenance a year the 5 years I owned it (Bought new)

Less about quality and more about capability (ground clearance, approach/departure angles, etc.), and the opposite really. I think generally speaking that vehicles (in that class in particular) were more capable 10 years ago than more recent models. I'm sure a large part of that has to do with safety and efficiency/environmental regulations. Some roads if someone said stock whatever from ten years go I wouldn't think anything of it, but the latest gens I'm a little more impressed.
