In my 2002 Tacoma i like to carry flashlights, pepper spray and gear inside the map pockets of the door. There is a lip that prevents me from scooping out my items. It gets caught on the lip. It is very inconvenient. i have been thinking about sanding the lip down but i know nothing about fabrication or sanding textured plastic or what grit sand paper to use or if i should buy a dremel and remove some of the material. I would like to remove the lip without it looking like someone scratched up the plastic. has anyone done this before? [IMG]

Would not be something I would undertake. I think you will wind up with a raggedy edge, unless you are a lot better than I. I would probably look at using some sort of self stick pad, like the foil covered sound insulation, and build it up on the inside.

Although a convenient storage pocket, once something is put in there, it's a PIA to get out... I think I still have a French fry in there from 2009.... :D

I have pennies stuck with soda goo in the pocket from the previous owner. Still cant get them out.

Ive read that its sketchy to have pepper spray in the cab... summer time, hot cars and the canisters can rupture (hopefully not while your driving). A side impact will have you covered in pepper spray too :)

That's a good idea. I've had luck with a utility knife for cutting that kinda plastic.

One thing though...unless you have the steady hand of surgeon is probably going to look shitty.

I have a hard time getting small objects out of that pocket also. However, there is probably a reason for that thickened edge. If you remove it the pocket might become flimsy and even crack if you bump against it getting in or out of the truck. Just saying....

when i had an 02, i used to put my wallet in there. It made it theft proof since it was so hard to get out
