How long did they have it?

How long does it take to get a gasket and retorque some bolts?

I just took mine in Monday. They did the 10k service and were supposed to do a state inspection. My truck flunked the recall and they gave me the choice of driving a Yaris or calling me back when the part comes in. My younger son is in the middle of doing his Eagle Scout project which involves the need for a truck. I have to haul older son's stuff to college on Monday. I got the truck back. They "forgot" to do the state inspection. It's expired. This is the dealer closest to me. The dealer I bought it from fried the ECU during the 5k check up and kept it a week. Are all the dealers this bad?

Your dealership sounds like the exception. Mine kept me informed of progress, and since they took a truck my rental was a 4Runner through Enterprise. They offered me a Dodge Ram but I "respectfully" declined it.

As for the amount of time it takes to get the new gaskets and bolts...that's on Toyota's manufacturing process not being fully tied in to the recall requirements. Ooops.

Sounds like some bad dealers, how in the heck did the original one fry the ECU?

I made a thread about it last November. Techs seem to say it happens. It happened right after Hurricane Matthew and we needed a truck to clean up beach property. They helpfully gave me a smoky smelling Camry. It seems like every time I absolutely need a pickup this one is down for some reason. Well, it's only two times. They've taken away a lot of the care free feeling of having a new truck. I can carry a lot in the 2008 4Runner but it trashes the interior. I have hopes the dealer I'm going to is decent. It disappoints me that they only performed two of the three things I asked them to do. At least they let me leave with my truck.

Out of curiosity, do folks that wait more than a few days ever throw a fit? Did the SA dealer say why 48+ days? Is this whole thing a scam for them to screw over Toyota Corporate or rack up charges somehow? The dealer in Temple said they'd order parts, call me when they come in, and have me done in < 5 hrs once they start.

Currently about to cross the 60 day mark, still no end in sight. According to my Service Advisor, everything is hinging on one part that has not arrived and is still backordered.

Just got a call it's ready although I was supposed to get one when parts came in. Odd it happened within 5 days of emailing the CEO. I'll pick it up in the morning and do an inspection on the rear diff. They also did the 10k service & had to replace a rear shock which was leaking. I may swing by after work and do my own inspection.

I was really hoping to get a call when parts came in so I could demand a detail before I take delivery but I'll just be happy to get it back.

    Total days: 58.

After 47 days I finally have my truck back. Since the truck was sitting out in the elements for so long I asked for a detail and they agreed. So I'll be going back this Saturday for that. So far so good!

Sept. 16th for me and I take it in. Still DRY AS A BONE on every inch of it since
I wiped it down about 5 months ago.

Just an update, since I brought it up, my mileage seems to have returned to normal. So maybe it just reset back to learning mode from sitting for so long or something. Who knows. lol
