So I see, we don't have a TRD Sport in Canada, correct? Is it just a SR5, then a TRD-Off Road?

Yes there is a TRD Sport in Canada. Double Cab Long bed only for automatic. Sport shortbed is manual only. Only available factory option is Sports Upgrade package.

There is also Limited, long bed only. The Off Road only available in short box. Go to Toyota.ca and configure.

de-badged, tint front windows, led interior lights, door sill protectors, led b/up lights, 5" factory step rails, yellow turn signal bulbs, added 4 D ring tie downs. Took off the black vinyl stripes between the doors. Changed the grill - from Custom Car Grills, Finally got a tonneau cover put on. 31" light bar ( white & amber ), tailgate light bar, sunvisor covers ( to hide warning labels ), new bedside decals - still too cold to put them on tho. Flag decals to go on too, again too cold still. Got a 2 switch, switch plate to replace that useless cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel.. still to be installed ( hopefully this weekend ). Upgraded the tires to G/Y Duratracs... loving them, no plowing the driveway !!
Wrong, I have a double cab short box TRD Sport ( 2016 )

Curious if it's manual or auto. Being a short box I'm guessing manual.

TRD Sport in Canada double cab is a short box if you get the manual. Long box if you get the automatic.

Not sure I'd want to run that formula 1, but the Toyota brand oil was $6/1L at the dealer today I noticed. May get that instead of Castrol.

What is the weight required for a 2016- '17 V6 Tacoma? Is it 0-20?

Not a problem, I've run their synthetic for a couple decades, zero problems even in higher mileage. It was made by Shell Canada, not sure if that's still the case. I switched to Mobil1 for awhile when 0-20 first came out, as Formula wasn't initially available in this weight. FWIW Mobil1 on sale was around $30, but only 4.4 litre jug.

Where is Toyota sourcing their oil, they aren't producing it, Mobil1 perhaps?

General manager called me back late Thursday and asked me to email him a list of my specific concerns, and then mid morning on Friday, the service manager called me back profusely apologizing and then addressed each one of my concerns. They want to make this right. After 20 minutes of no solutions offered, I cut him off and said "what are you prepared to do to make this right?" So they will bring my truck back in and do all the stuff they said they did but didn't. He mentioned gift cards and future free service but I didn't even acknowledge those offers. He admitted his tech had ticked boxes on the inspection sheet and not done everything. So I will give them a final opportunity to fix their mistakes but won't be giving them another list when it goes back in, they have to care enough to get it right.
There is a big disconnect at that dealership, the service manager admitted he had never looked at the service 1,2,3 lists on their own website, and those lists don't match their tech service checklist. I'll post an update when I pick it up next Wednesday.

I have low confidence that they'll get it right. He said he'd let me know yesterday about the fix up appointment, and I finally got an got an email this morning telling me he will be calling on Monday morning to make the arrangement for the Wednesday appointment to rotate the tires. They are also supposed to be greasing the driveshafts among other forgotten things, but they have the list so they know what they have to do... I had asked them to do the rear diff recall also, he claims they just forgot to give me the paperwork.
I used to have a Honda Crv and took it to the Honda dealer because they had the cheapest oil changes around. After the first oil change there I never considered going anywhere else. They washed and vacuumed the vehicle everytime, wiped down the engine compartment and I left there feeling like a king! My recent Toyota service left no evidence that they been near the car except for one small smudge in the dirt on the bottom of the oil pan.

Any more info on the 2018s for Canada as far as the release date. The other (USA) thread has rumours of TRD off road coming in cement colour now.
    Thanks.

If I remember Toyota canada usually updates the tacoma around September. I remember becuase I was working at a certain job site when I was looking on the website and noticed the 17 MY showed up. so I would assume it would be the same situation this go around.
I am however not holding my breath that what the US model gets will be exactly what we get, as that is never the situation. but who knows haha

So they arrived promptly on time today and picked up my truck from where I work. 5 hours later they brought it back with a full tank of gas and the tires rotated. The service manager tried hard but as far as I'm concerned they brought themselves back up to where they should have been a week ago. They didn't do anything above and beyond and that is the cost of redemption. I'm a nice guy and the ball was in their court to make this right and as far as I'm concerned they could have done more. I'll do the oil changes myself in the future. I am left feeling that it would be difficult for anyone to do worst than they did.
