Yep so freaking bad, we go every year just to make sure it still sucks. This year we got Mud Brook group camping, and it was so bad that we didn't do our normal adventuring, we just spent days hanging in the lake drinking. So shitty.

I would call ahead just to ensure I have a place to land. But at state parks they have some non reservable sites that are first come first served, and some of them are some of the best sites. But in your situation you could pull in to Wally World lot and set up your tent.

A while back some one mentioned going up to the trains. Because camp was so bad, we didn't venture out and go. So now I am looking to do a train run.

I have rented that site for going back on 15 years or so for a motorcycle rally. We have since moved it to VT because the motorcycle riding around there SUCKS unless you are a trail rider. But it's the most beautiful campsite I've ever been on:

That's awesome! You got me really looking forward to my next Maine trip where my site overlooks the ocean. I love campsites like that, waking up to a view like that just doesn't get old.

    Northern new hampshire, west/central Maine.

My trip is camping in each state. After Maine, ill be heading south down the coast, and eventually back to NYC. I have no plans. I was just going to do some tourist stuff, and then show up at a campsite. Or look for some fire roads/trails, and then set up canp

We have been going up for like 7 of the last 8 years now, went to Rangley on year 3. Stayed at Lily Bay State Park every year, but want to check out the other side of the lake, probably camp over there somewhere next year.

Love the whole area, some day hope to live up there. I grew up in south of Augusta, lived in caribou for 5 years, spent a few on the western side in Parsonsfield and last 10 plus in Saco. I love the County, but the one year we didn't go to Moosehead, I missed it badly.

Mind you I do family camping with wife and kid and relatives usually...so we need more amenities...but I was in a tent for 3 days in Ct just 2 weeks ago, we did Bear Creek Campground which is adjacent to Lake Compounce amusement park which was great...Very new and Tidy but no water or electric at the tent sites and not camp dishes sink...

We also would do https://lostriver.com/ Lost river in NH for our storyland/white mountains camping...Loved that place. It has a river right through the campground and is in a great location...

Our general rule for camping is to find an KOA campground. They have a certain level of quality and amenities that make it a good choice without worry.

Ive been across the Kancamagus Highway many times on the motorcycle that is one hell of a ride . Tie that in with a week of Bike Week during Laconia bike week and that is one hell of a vacation plus renting a cabin right on the lake at Weirs Beach its more than bitchin time and the things Mom and Dad didn't tell you about . Girls gone wild is a understatement

I used to ride in for the Laconia Bike Week but now I avoid it like the plague. Too many drunk idiots speeding around on 2 wheels for my tastes. It's a lot of fun, but I've gotten to the point now that I don't consider it worth the risk.
