"Our Brand New 2017 with under 7,000km. My Girlfriend and I were Driving from to Managua today on at 12:30pm when the accelerator stuck at full throttle speeding us up basically on a highway rampage with no visibility from the instant white smoke. We seriously thought it was going to blow up so quickly pulled over when visible, put on the emergency brake and ran out as fast as possible. Here's the video moments after we exited the vehicle. ( *This is not the first problem with this vehicle either, at only 500km the fuel injector blew out and had it replaced which had the same white smoke but not this intense*) We are so grateful nobody was seriously injured during this tragedy and we hope that noone should ever go through the same situation we did with a brand new Vehicle in small version:

Runaway engine. Turbo blew a seal and started burning engine oil. The only way to stop is to plug air intake and choke the engine OR let it burn all its oil.

Why not put the transmission in nuetral and shut it off?

 

I used to work with a diesel mechanic and he had a Semi do this on him.

He got it under control by blocking the intake just like you mentioned. Scared him to death though.

 

it's a diesel, if the chamber is hot enough, it will burn the oil until it's all out of oil

Are modern diesels still using mechanical fuel pumps?

I would think that with an electronic pump you could shut off the fuel.

I see that someone said that a turbo seal blew and it was burning the crankcase oil.

 

So let me get this straight? This is an option of the new Rangers? James Bond type smokescreens??? Cool!

While run-away is limited to diesels... all cars and trucks have their faults, (accelerator stuck, dying in the middle of a drive, hell just look here for tacoma issues with the CPS). this is not unique to a diesel, only a little more awesome looking when it happens.

And can an issue like this with no fatalities or injuries really be called a tragedy?
