Picked up a Savage M-11 trophy hunter XP today in 6.5 Creedmoor. Went to the shop to get the cheaper Axis II model but the trophy hunter was 529.00 with a $100 cash back from Savage. 30 bucks more the trophy hunter came with a 3-9x Nikon and felt a lot sturdier.

 

You'll be glad you didn't go with the axis

Well I didn't end up getting the M1. Being a college student dropping 1000 bucks on a rifle didn't feel like a good idea to me. No matter how much I wanted it. Instead I picked up a Yugoslavian M48 for 220. It's a good overall condition. Just needed a quick cleaning on it. Only issue is finding 8mm rounds.

 

Smart move. Garands will be around for many more years so can always pick up one down the road. I dont see prices going up to much higher thna they are now.

Congrats on the Yugo though. 220 sounds like a good deal for one as most of the Yugo's ive seen have been 300+. As for 8mm ammo online is the way to go. SGammo has a good selection of both surplus and new and it isnt to bad for shipping. I ordered 120 rounds for my Hakim from them and it was like 10 bucks to ship.

I really do appreciate all that silencershop has done.

On the other hand it really just makes me shake my head at how a private company has developed countless innovations in the NFA world while the ATF has done absolutely nothing.

 

ATF only cares about the $$ this is how I see the ATF when you send in a form...

 

My .02 that you didn't ask for...

The ATF's job is to do the paperwork in this instance, unless the cost of Govt R&D (quadruple the cost of civilian R&D, because you know, Govt) would be recovered by efficiency of said innovations, i wouldn't want the ATF messing with it.
It has been proven that for innovation the private sector is best and if it's big enough/needed then govt funding is helpful.

Is anybody going shooting on Monday during the eclipse? This will be a good time to practice shooting in low light.
