Fab Four TT16-W3651-1 Premium Rear Bumper will accommodate BS and PA. I was quoted $825.00 including free shipping and no tax.

Hey since this seems to be a problem for a lot of trucks, I'm curious if our trucks all came from the same manufacturing plant and they fudged up when they put the bumper together.

How can we find out? Match the month they were built? Do the VIN numbers have similar #'s?

They told you that over the phone? Reading the "features" at the bottom states it doesn't accommodate BSM.

Mine has the same issue. I suppose I could fix it myself but it chafes my panties that I spent $35K for my new truck and it comes out of the factory (Texas) like that. I've been buying Toyotas' since 1977 and the primary reason has been their quality and reliability. In fact I became a Quality Manager in larger part to an experience in 1974 when a friend of mine bought a new Toyota and I bought a new Ford and we did a side by side comparison of the two. Let's just say the Toyota was hands down the winner! What the heck has happened to their QC?? I'm going to let the dealer take a look at it but if they can't (or won't) fix it I'll do it myself.

This post is on the Qi charging thread as well since the dealer is working on both issues.

I got a call April 3rd from my dealers parts department, they informed me that the Qi charging parts had come in. Interesting I had not ordered any parts. They were not sure who did. I am still bringing the truck in on Thursday the 6th. Still expecting the regional rep to be there but who knows maybe there is a known fix??? and they ordered the new parts??? they are also going to work on the bumper/bed alignment issue at the same time. I will post an update.

Well the dealer had the truck on the 6th, and the regional guy came up. They did some testing and said everything is within spec., That my problem is that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is a rapid charge phone which draws more current and the Qi set up in the Tacoma is a slow charge setup. They claimed they even did a temperature measurement and it was in spec at 96 degrees. Funny thing when I got the truck back the air conditioning was on. Wounder why it passed the test. When I asked to see the spec, I was told the dealer did not have one and of course the rep was gone. So much for the phone list that Toyota publishes.
The second item they were to look at was the bumper issue. Again I was told that everything is within spec. They said that 5mm tolerance is acceptable. When I asked 5mm from what the dealer said he didn't know He did say the they went out in the lot and agreed that most of the truck in the lot had mis-aligned bumper parts. Again no copy of a spec, I was told they did bend/flex some of the plastic parts, after I asked what they did because it looked a lot closer. Today I measured it with a micrometer again and found the difference is down to 0.120 thousands of an inch or about 3mm. It isn't perfect but it is a whole lot closer than the 0.423 thousandth (approx 11mm)which is where we started at. It only took 4 tries and half the original parts replaced. Dealer has been great - Toyota not so good it seems they know they have issues.

iPhone or any other phone with metal/aluminum back will not work on any induction charger since the metal back will kill the field.
I have an original Samsung QC induction charger that plugged in the wall will take almost 10 hours to charge the phone. The induction charger is more to hold the charge than to charge the phone. I use it next to the bed to hold the charge and not wake up with a dead/drained phone....and is getting pretty warm.
Forget about the QC in the truck, use the cigarette lighter with an adapter and charge the phone. But remember, when the truck is turned off the cig lighter is not working.

Noticed mine was off when I put a topper on it. I thought the topper was off at first but upon inspection my cab was actually off too. Had to loosen up the cab and shake it into place.

How (from what bolts - how may - where located) did you loosen the cab to align it? Did the cab moved easy or with a lot of muscle? How did you align it? Based on what measurements?

Aligned bed today. Was off by about 3/4 inch more on one side. Bed is easy. Now have to do bumper. Not much adjustment so will try end caps another day.

IMG_2387.jpg IMG_2392.jpg My bed gaps are off pretty bad. Bumpers also but not as significant as some others in this thread. I also notice when driving down bumpy roads, the cap and bed shake quite a bit. How did y'all adjust and tighten it? Or should I be taking it to the dealer for this?

My new 2017 has the same problem with bed to cab alignment- I didn't notice it until I put a shell on it. When installed squarely on the bed, the drivers side of my ARE shell stuck out to the side, while the passenger side didn't. I broght it to the dealer and the repair manager said they'd fix it and give me a loaner. He said it requires a cab realignment too as theyre both adjustable. I've since removed the shell to bring it back to the dealer tomorrow (they are sending it to their body shop), but these pics should show the problem:

Update- Dealer sent it to a Toyota collision center and they fixed it- the cab and bed was out of alignment. Toyota covered it plus a free loaner.

I noticed today my bed being misaligned exactly like yours. Shifted to the diver side more. What did the dealer do? Was it an easy fix? I was planning on putting a camper shell on tomorrow and now I am afraid to due to this alignment being so off. Thanks for the info in advance.

It is an easy fix, either by you or the dealer. Loosen bed bolts, slide to align. It can be done with camper shell on.

I just noticed since I have rear mudguards, that I see more tire outside of the splashguard on the Right Rear by about 1/2 inch. I figured it should be easy to loosen the bed bolts and just push from left to right about 1/4 inch to correct it. I wasn't sure of the tolerance for any adjustments, and since you said you aligned it, was it pretty much straightforward? Any tips would be appreciated.

That’s exactly what my 2018 looks like. Mine is at Toyota right now being worked on. It came like that from the factory. Wouldn’t expect this type of QC being released to the dealers. I took pictures of about 20 brand new Tacoma’s with this problem. Is their a public complaint about this to Toyota yet? It needs to be addressed.
