I have a 2017 TRD OR DCSB. I plan on getting a bed rack and RTT amongst other gears. I have no desire to do any extreme rock crawling but would like to confidently go on forestry roads/beginner/intermediate crawling roads. My truck is on a 265/70/17 KO2s.

I cannot decide on either :

Old Man Emu medium coils for front
Bilstein 5100 shocks front and rear
Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs
    Old Man Emu bushing kit
    ARB u-bolts

    OR

Old Man Emu medium coils for front
Old Man Emu shocks front and rear
Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs
    Old Man Emu bushing kit
    ARB u-bolts

Why is one better than the other to you?
Also do I need to get UCA? Any recommendations?

    Thanks,

You should not need UCA's for any of the coils that do not go over 2".

As far as which shocks, I would personally go EMU to match the EMU springs. They are built to work together. 5100's are not bad at all. But if you can spend a tiny bit more just make it all match.

Both are good shocks and will do the job just fine. My OCD makes me want to match the brand all the way around.

Thanks for the input. Will the 5100s be any better for their adjustability in case I add a steel bumper or winch down the road?

It is not recommended to adjust the 5100's with aftermarket coils. the adjustments are really meant to be used with the factory springs. With that said I really do not personally know much about this. I am sure some have done it. If you do a steel or winch down the road, i would suggest getting a different pair of OME coils later, such as the 886's when you do it.

I did read the suspension FAQs and other threads but was never clear on why 5100s are not recommended with aftermarket coil. Can anyone add to this?

5100s will work great with aftermarket coil, of they are set at zero. But I do just say this from what I have read from others. Best be would be to call them and just ask.

If you will be wanting to adjust down the road. I suggest going with a coil over. If you want to lift it and leave it, then either are fine. since you are looking at adding weight up front you may just want to get the 886 coils now with either shock and deal with a tiny bit bumpier ride until you add the winch and or bumper.

The 886 are made for the extra weight. Most guys do not run them unless they have add ons that add more weight because they are stiffer and once you weight it down it helps compensate for that.

Thanks for everyone's contributions. After hours of research I have decided on

Old Man Emu medium coils 888 for front
Bilstein 5100 shocks front and rear
Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs
    Old Man Emu bushing kit
    ARB u-bolts

I''ll try to get a before and after pic up in a few days!

    Food for thought:

    OME Coils
    OME Shocks

Designed by same people to work together.

Not like the OME coils cost much more than Bilstein.

cost wasn't a factor in this instance and at first I agreed with you going for the same brand but there were more positive reviews on this setup with blistens. no doubt that OME shocks are great as well.

Fox/OME/Icon lift. TRD Beadlocks. Toyo MT’s. Pelfreybilt, RCI, Mobtown armor.
Stick with the Dakars. They are much better ride quality than AAL. Do the flip kit and drive carrier drop kit too when you install the lift. You'll regret it later if you don't. I would go with 5100's.
