On a 2013, 6mm is too small. Probably 8mm. Could be different for you.

    A few minor things...
Thanks! I grabbed a M6 bolt from work to check the thread and it was the correct size.

This blew my mind. Awesome write up.

I see you setup for individual grounds per circuit, could you bypass that and just ground your accessories to body/frame?

I know your setup is ideal but it seems the extra ground circuit is a bit overkill.

Does anyone know if the bussmann CB285-80 circuit breaker is directional? I noticed that it has one terminal labeled "BAT" and one labeled "AUX". I really want to install it backwards due to space constraints, but I'm not sure if it will function correctly in that orientation. I have contacted Cooper Bussmann but haven't gotten a response, I also tried calling but they never seem to pick up the phone.

I'm just guessing here but you mentioned in the op that you used awg18 because smaller wire is harder to use with the bussman. Is that related to pushing the connectors into the fuse block? If so I think it wouldn't be too hard to make a slotted tool that pushes the seal.

I've read in various places how ground can be a bit inconsistent and noisy if placed as you please. Too many bolted together connections between various frame/body panels and B- and each one is susceptible to corrosion. Stuff still works but all those extra contact resistances can be eliminated with a wire to the buss. Less resistance = more voltage through the feed.

Thanks for the feedback. I decided to skip the individual ground step in favor of doing a ground/positive lead upgrade since im redoing the terminals. That should shore up the ground contacts a bit and cut some resistance out.

@bagleboy pretty much answered your question. What it comes down to is the quality of the ground, or return path to the battery. While in theory the body or frame will work because it's grounded to the battery, good practice is to provide your own ground.

Delcity also listed a bolt-in gasketed firewall connector for 22 wires. I'm not sure how waterproof the grommet would be after cutting through it a time or two. I've a lot of window shopping to do while I save up the dough for more mods(mostly incognito, functional rather than aesthetic) it's rather annoying that with 7 open relay spots and 9 open fuse spots(1/30, 1/50, 7/5-20)in the engine bay box I can't get into it to add circuits that higher end trucks have. Nice to have a clean option to add stuff now.

I've been using a local guy's switches in my FJ build. Company name is "aironboard" and he offers lots of color options with a ton of different designs

Just finished up the panel in my FJ thanks to the most detailed instructions I've ever seen in my life! Starting to throw in the accessories as they come. Already got 2 sets of light pods and my CB running through it now

Installed mine today. Word to the wise, buy a premade mounting plate. Almost lost my shit trying to hand fab a plate in 105 degrees after a graveyard shift. Also, the hydraulic lug crimper is amazing.

Anyone put their switches in the sun glass holder in a second gen? Also, did you use the OTRATTW switch backings that allow you to disconnect the switches easily and move them? Need to know if the switch backings fit up in the sun glass holder.

The answer is no, switchbacks dont fit, but the op does describe in minute detail how to DIY exactly how to get around that.
