So yah, I changed out my Caliper on my 4runner '90, and now my steering is locked and ignition is locked. This has happened before, but never this bad before. It will not rattle lose at all.
    Any ideas?

I get a call from my wife or my mother in law at least once a year for this.

I tell them to grip the wheel and yank it one way and try to turn the key. If that doesn't work, grip it and turn it the other way. Works like a charm.

Moving the steering wheel to take the pressure off the lock pin while trying to turn the ign and it won't release is what your saying.
Anytime This happens to a cust the first thing I suggest is getting a new key made. Not copied from your old one. A new cut by vin at the dealer.
Take your reg and drivers license and get a cheap non chip key made by vin. Then go try it.
Quite often this is the cure. Not all the time but a cheap key is a lot better to try than replacing a ign lock cyl etc for nothing. I'm not there to feel if there are any other issues but that's where I would start.

I guess i may have to get a factory key made. I find it odd how they don't even let you turn they key to be able to pull the ignition lock out. I will have to get a cut for the vin on my other truck, because that part was pulled from my '95 Runner.

Yea you are correct... Ask them to write the code for you. Save it for future reference.

Is the steering fully locked to one side? You may have to seperate your pitman arm, it's the ball joint that connects the steering gear to the drag link. Remove the cotter pin, remove nut, smash drag link with hammer, free up steering tension.

Ouch. That sounds like a chore. I would have no idea what i'm doing there. Would taking off a tire and changing the brakes cause that issue?

There's enough play you can flex the system to release the lock pin.

I can't turn it left or right, it's locked both ways. Key won't budge, tires won't budge. I don't know how to flex the system and release a pin. I'm lost in that area. :(

Mine used to do this occasionally. It finally did it at work in my 2002 tacoma. Tried everything.
Had the truck towed home, grabbed an extra original key that I never used and it started right up.
The key is probably worn down so bad that it wont engage the tumblers.

Get a key and start there. Eliminate the easy stuff before you pull your hair out.

What blows my mind is it worked before I changed my caliper. I tried my spare key, it didn't work either. Going to try a new original copy tomorrow i guess.

    That is wierd.
I bought my truck new in late 2001 and always used the plain spare key, never the original black key. After 13 yrs it just finally wore down.
I dont know of anything that could have happened when you changed the calioer out that would have affected the wheel lock or tumbler.

I don't either, that's what is making my head spin. I am going to try the locksmith tomorrow, and then the dealership if that doesn't work out.

New key cut worked! Barely. They didn't have the proper Toyota keys either, just the cheap ones. But it still got a clean factory cut. Probably need new Ignition switch again then.
