Also, I must say, they are HIGH for thinking that their current estimate for repair is at 75% of the truck's actual cash value. Given what they sell for in my area, the value of these trucks are much higher than what they're thinking. Looking online, with the same model year trim, etc. without the mods on the truck, like the wheels, lift, tires, etc. they run around the high $20K mark.

Any idea what the by back cost if totaled?
Obviously I've only seen your pics, but it looks like you bumper just folded down the rear frame, behind the rear spring mounts and wasted your bed, at least the cosmetic metal bed side panels, the plastic tub might survive if you unbolt it soon from the (also bent down) rear bed mounts. I wouldn't be concerned at all about having a welder (not a body $hop) repair those rear frame horns. IMHO anything behind the suspension is just metal.
Glad your OK and cheer up, you might be able to buy back your truck for pennies on the dollar, repair it with $3000 of settlement money, and still have some cash left over.
There really shouldn't be any hidden damage with a good "square" rear end hit, but be smart about it also. Good luck!

I'll likely find out tomorrow. For the billions these insurance companies make, repairing these newer model vehicles shouldn't even be an issue.

Btw, there's damage to the rear of the cab due to the impact.

Some good news...Parts have been ordered! The only significant delay is the frame assembly , as they are made to order. Expecting a couple months turnaround time. Until then, the truck will be sitting at home, so I don't rack up any storage fees.

This whole thing has been stressful as hell, but it's looking brighter. Now I just have to find a way to relax. I've never had blood pressure so high in my life.

I guess you can call it custom made by Toyota. Kinda wish they had them sitting on a pallet rack, ready to go. But I'll take it regardless.

Small update. Things are looking brighter. Parts are scheduled to arrive at the body shop around mid next month. Personal injury claim has been going smoothly since my hiring an attorney. If all goes well, the taco will be back on the road in two months or so. By then, I'd be filing a diminished value and loss of use claim to the third party insurance company. It has been a grueling month and a half, but I'm more optimistic now, compared to when the date of loss occurred. For anyone currently experiencing a similar ordeal, I hope this thread helps you by not allowing yourself to be victim of the snakes running these insurance companies. Settle for what's in your best interests, even if it isn't easy (especially if you're not at fault). I'm glad I didn't just give up, and I'm not done yet.

I will post pics as the truck gets repaired.

Frame and parts were supposed to be delivered to the shop yesterday. Still no sign of anything yet. Stupid negligent driver has kept me out of a truck for more than 2 months now! To be continued...

    Update for anyone interested:

The truck is FINALLY in the shop. First parts to arrive were the brand new frame and bed assembly. Going to be another month to get it back on the road.

The story behind the delay of the frame's arrival was kind of backwards to me. Toyota said it came from Japan. I looked at the sticker and as expected it said it was assembled in Mexico. Go figure. Otherwise I'm happy that the frame is ready to get installed on the truck.

I'm glad it all worked out for you. The truck in my avatar was totaled back in August in a similar accident. I was stopped, and someone comes along not paying attention. BOOM at 60mph! Two shops worked on my truck for 6 weeks before the insurance company threw in the towel. My frame was bent just behind the cab on the driver's side.

I'm glad you're getting your truck back. I'm sure that will be a great feeling to pick it up when the repairs are all done!

Thanks, man. I won't go into too much detail on how I convinced the third party insurance to repair the truck just yet, but, model year, the truck's condition and mileage were the biggest factors in doing so. Basically made the truck almost equivalent to unobtanium in terms of fair market value. I'm also glad that I found a great shop willing to take on the job. Can't wait to have it back.

Stopped by the shop today with the wife and doggo. Everything's getting transferred to the new frame, and the cab got the dents pulled. Gonna be another 2 weeks or so before the truck is back together.

Thanks for the updates. It helps remind us all why we never want to be in this situation even if we have insurance.

Yup, dealing with insurance has been the biggest headache since this whole thing began. If I could turn back time and do it over, I'd make sure I was never on the highway driving my truck and take a safer route to my destination that day.

Cab's installed on the new frame! Power steering, coolant and brake flush, and A/C recharge have been done as well. It started up with no issues. Overall, I've been impressed with the progress. The shop I chose takes great pride in their work, paying attention to every detail.

The cab, bed panels and tailgate are all being prepped for paint. Also, since the old shocks are off, I'm selling the fronts that have preload spacers mounted and a pair of stock UCA's, if anyone's intersted.

Sorry for the bad pic quality
