Yeah it was slated for tomorrow but just saw they opened it today. Too bad that I gave some people directions to go in from 44.

Whoops. I'm sure they'll find out about the early opening.

I was there yesterday. But it's good to know there's someone on here close by. I'm in Paradise and explore a lot in Laporte area. I love that place.

Did your group come westbound on 36 yesterday around Chester with a few Jeeps with you?

No Jeeps, this was a full size truck or Toy group, we just talk stoves and lanterns, older the better. Most were from Nevada, one guy from Atascadero, another from Willets. I scored a Coleman model 1 stove.

That sounds pretty cool. I've had an old Coleman stove I got at a flee market hanging out in my closet for years. It was $7. I've never really tried to get it working.

What lookout is this? Looks sort of like up near saddle camp, but my recollection may be off as it's been a while.

That was Black Rock Mountain. We got too late a start as my friends drove up to Stuart Gap that morning, we were hoping to make it to N Yolla Bolly also. We just day hiked and camped at Stuart Gap TH. Sorry for the late response, I was in the hospital for over a week, then a rehab home.

You were about 4-5 miles west of Saddle Camp then, beautiful area. Did you start in Red Bluff or from the Coastal side? I'm in Humboldt and am tempted to do the trek from here to the valley this route.

    Hope you're doing well now.

I went thru Red Bluff, coming down from Quincy area on 36. My friends came up from the wine country, then Fortuna.
I see the doctor on the 3rd, hope I can drive then, been feeling 100% for a week now.

Glad to hear you're feeling better.
There's some awesome hikes/drives between Plumas and Humboldt, definitely worth the time.

I didn't make it into Lassen NP this summer, just back in Jan or sometime for a snow camp trip, then a car camping trip with a friend by the visitor center a few weeks later. With all the snow and the delay getting the road open, could not make a summer trip, was thinking Butte Lake on the NE side, no potable water there this year, but no big deal.
