Truck is now over 20k miles so it was time for another service check. Got a call after a couple of hours stating they noticed my diff had a small weep so they were ordering the parts and would replace upon receipt. Truck is an OR so not subjected to the recall protocol, told me I can pick it up and they'll call me when the parts are in.

No drama, no muss or fuss, crawled under the truck when I got it home and saw 3 quarter sized spots. Not worried, no drips in the driveway so I'll keep driving it.

Add me to the list of leaky diffs, truck not confiscated as it's being fixed under warranty and the dealership is proactive in correcting the issue.

Life goes on but now I have a bona-fide issue. Still love the truck.

Ain't my first rodeo dealing with a problem in a Toyota truck, just the first problem in this truck.

Not worried, even if it takes longer I can park it and drive the 1st gen for a bit. Can't bitch at the dealership if it's a parts availability issue. I deal with that everyday on more crucial equipment.

My OR is seeping too and I have just under 5,000 Miles, was figuring they will fix it as a warranty item also.

    Probably more to this story......

Easy fix though, find another dealer and take it there minus the attitude. I've got 7 to choose from, 10 if I want it to be an inconvenience.

According to the this side of the story,.

Why not provide documentation to the regional rep and get this resolved? Shady business practices won't keep them in business long.

I'm going to go out on a limb here but when I look around for a car or truck to buy, I also look into the logistics to support repair, parts and customer service of the dealership. If that isn't where I can find a service provider that I like and can trust, I'm not buying the product no matter how good it is. It can be the best truck in the world but if I don't feel comfortable with the dealership and support, I'm not buying it. This is especially true if it's a single source, as in only one dealership in the area. If that's the case I really scrutinize before I pull the trigger. That's why it took me three months to decide which truck to buy, I was also shopping who to buy it from.

That should be for anything that requires a substantial financial commitment.

The best dealership is not the one that always gives to the best price. I'd trade dollars at the sale for years of piece of mind at the service bay every time.

    Update on the thread...

After 5 weeks I made a call to get parts status, was told they were still waiting on two parts to arrive. Once received they'll let me know so I can schedule the install.

Still driving the truck with a minor weep, still no drips on the ground, still no drama.

Truck now has over 22k miles on it.

Last weekend, I got under my truck to take measurements for sliders. That's when I noticed my differential had been seeping. No drips. Just looked like if someone had wiped it with an oily rag. I guess I'll just go to the dealer for the first service and let them know about it. It has right at 7k miles. My truck is not included on the recall.
