I'll do it tomorrow or Thursday also. High of 80 is way better than what it has been

Note to self; An OME 887 coil, when rolled off a workbench (34" tall) and onto a foot in a tennis shoe, will FUCKING HURT! :annoyed:

    I know this because....? :frusty:

Gotta do it. Work on truck again tomorrow afternoon. (Wire fogs).

Gonna do some research on alternate method of mounting T-case skid. Do NOT want to drill two 11/16" holes in frame.

    No...

Gonna find some big beam clamps and attach one on each side of the frame, then bolt to that.

Bolts in the provided and drilled holes sound much more secure

    I can make it BETTER!

Don't like the idea of drilling a hole in the frame web that's almost half the web....

    No broken frames.

Gonna make it into a "cross brace/stringer" running between frame rails? If so, I like that idea

Not adding any more steel than I have to. Still working hard to lessen the weight where I can. It can be as strong as it needs to be without adding a bunch more "mass".

    All about engineering....

So does 2 dozen broken drill bits stuck in the frame

Object is to avoid big hole in frame.

    Planning out loud;

Today is "clean out the freekin' mess of a cab" day. Start with leaf blower. (seriously) Open all 4 doors and let 'er rip! Gets under seats REAL nice. Then vacuum.

This weekend brings the first GOOD pictures of the current state of truck! I've about given up on a good PHONE picture. Time to break out the DSLR!

So. Where are we with the build? Fogs still need wiring. I may work on that this evening. Or not. May rest. Old people need to do that every now and then. T-case skid still a work in progress. I do NOT wish to drill 2 MORE holes in the frame (rear mounting points of skid) Looking at a number of other options. No rush. The key part of the t-case skid is that it protects the exhaust cross-over pipe. It will go on, but not with drilling 2 more holes.

Probably looking @ EBC brake pads before Harlan.

If they don't get sold before I get there, picking up 2 NEW OEM headlights on Friday/Saturday.

BTW, I'm looking for a good 2011 grill. 2011 was a grill all it's own. I could use '05 through '11 if the surround is perfect. (May build mesh grill insert) Long story short, mine has the imprint of a golf ball in it. Want it gone.

So who's got an ARB front air locker?

Trying to set a date for a mobile window tint guy to come by work and do my front door windows as well as same on my SIL's T4R. Matching rear windows.

And roof rack....May just do OEM without basket for now.

Many times I've thought about using the leaf blower, my dog and gf's dog hair...Every. Where!

Phone pics, it's all in the settings, getting the focus right (tap on the screen because auto focus sucks at times), and a steady-ish hand. I do not have a steady hand anymore, so I let Everett take pics haha!

Your build is coming along nicely, major progress in a short period of time! I'm sure you'll find a way to mount that skid without too many issues.

Phone is base model (Sprint) LG. It has very poor camera. I've had better in a flip phone. May grab a Samsung S8+ soon.

The leaf blower works....REALLY well. You can do in 30 seconds what takes HOURS with "conventional cleaning methods".

Thank ya! Progress will be limited for a few months....Spent the limit for a while. I'm at a good spot with it now. I'll do a periodic upgrade every now and then. A few smaller things along the way. All about money....

A big thing about the t-case skid...It'll need to be off and on when drive shaft needs maintenance, etc...Whatever I do with that skid, it needs to be easy enough to get it loose when the time comes.

The TRD OR's come with a gas tank skid....It's plastic, but better than nothing. I'm starting to research aluminum gas tank skids as one of the next upgrades. Also will add skid to protect rear locker solenoid.

Got a plan in my brain right now to build a skid of sorts that'll go where the spare tire is now. That'll be in the bed soon. At that point, drop the rear end off a drop off and the first thing that CAN hit would be the lower skirts of the rear quarter panels. Not a full skid, but a pair of pipe skids in the center of the truck where the tire is now. Something fairly light, but rigid.

This part interests me. Always something I've thought about in the back of my mind.

Unless you have a high clearance rear, there's not mu protection from the rear diff and back when coming off a high drop
