I'd try that. Post up his recommendations later down the road. That valving sounds like mall crawler valving to me, but I'm used to prerunners. You might like the stock settings better than what you have now. You can keep those shims to fine tune them. Keep your stock shocks so you can swap out to fine tune these. Saves a lot of money to work on your own stuff.

Grabbed the recommended stack numbers while my truck is being washed. The guy from Fox recommended a 90/50 stack as a base.

    IMG_0004.jpg

My numbers are all over the place compared to the standard stack they have listed. That .024" makes no sense compared to the other shims. I'll have to confirm. Left the shims at the house today so stay posted.

@MadTaco461 looks like you were correct. The .024" was two .012" shims really stuck together. Making the correction to the measurements now.

That makes sense. That is some weird valving. I'd run that 90/50 setup.

Basically what is on there is a stupid soft compression at low speed and ramps up stiffer for the high speed.

Rebound has a stiff low speed with a bit lighter high speed valving.

Large diameter shims are your low speed and small is high speed damping. Middle shims are mid speed. Low speed would be like going over a big dip. Mid speed is going over something like whoops. High speed is your washboard roads.

Do fox pistons have 3 holes to add set screws? I'd say run 2 open one closed.

So thinking back on this, how do you tap into the dash light circuit? Would there be a way to kill all of the traction aids via the locker circuit or is the only way to do it through the ABS kill switch mod? I've got all of the parts for that mod, just haven't had the patience or priority to do it yet.

    @jberry813 @Speed Freek @jeffz0rz

Not trying to be a nuisance with my build thread but some shock valving input would be appreciated. My measurements are as above. I would like to do the reassembly this week if I can get an idea of what stack to do.

Never seen a fox piston, but if you put a small diameter shim(at least on the king pistons I have) for the first shim you are effectively creating a SHIT LOAD of bleed. The first shim needs to be large enough to cover all the ports or a large portion of flow will just go around the shim stack before it even starts to flex.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I'll have to check out the piston and see what my options are.

It was good to have the gang out. Wish more of you could have made it but it's not ideal to have a get together on a Tuesday. Thanks all for the wishes. This is a good community and I enjoy being a part of it.

You read through all Jason's crazy "build" you know where he was shit talking on shackle flips? Just looking to see if they talked about anything more than you loose uptravel and gain more droop.

Puts the leafs at a more negative arch at rest. Now take that same idea and use the up travel. It essentially exposes the leafs to more stress unnecessarily. That's one more thing I understood.

I did make it easier and hyper-link the parts of his thread that I found informative in the OP of my build thread. more for reference for me later but check it out!

Spent some time on the phone in the past few days trying to figure out what to do with this valving. Talked to another gentleman at Fox who was kind enough to send me the factory valving specs for the 2.5". I do not have factory valving in these. (Just in case anyone still had doubts.)

    IMG_2046.jpg

I was going in the direction of just running what I have and seeing how it all works out. If I don't like it, then it'll take a days worth of work to tear down the shocks again and return it to factory spec I cannot help but wonder if the custom stack in these is some kind of magical wizardry in the running work. I am thinking I should remove one of the 1.6x .012 shims on the rebound at the least though.

I'd run your compression like this if you wanted to mess around with valving without doing new shims. I just pulled a few shims from your stack you posted back.

    Compression
    Diam: Thick:
    1.800" .008"
    .800" .010"
    1.600" .010"
    1.425" .010"
    1.350" .008"
    1.100" .010"
    .950" .010"
    .800" .020"

So, I bit the bullet today and took the truck in for alignment. Huge thanks to Josh at Firestone in Mira Mesa for offering their lifetime alignment, even on my truck. I called around and some shops wouldn't even give you the time of day. If anyone is looking for a great deal in the area, I would suggest them. Cost is $199 now for a lifetime but it's be worth it now that I can come back in after hard trails.

Picture of specs below. Looks like my toe was out when I brought it in.

Another huge thanks to ECGS for their customer service and great prices. After figuring out that doing the clamshell differential would not be easy, I gave them a call and ordered a complete unit with 4:56s. No locker this time but I'm officially 3 wheel drive which Is better than I started! :bananadance: :yay:

Install took a full days worth of work but I got it done along with my oil change.
