I'm not surprised. I had tried that prior to installing the VW OEM anchors. When I tried the velcro, the adhesive "slid" on the mat after only a few days. After that I installed the VW anchors in February and haven't had to touch them since.

I just did the VW anchors with the info in this thread, works perfectly. Expensive for what it is, but looks factory and solves the problem.

Truck cap , husky liners, deflector shield, ARE truck cap.
I have Husky liners in my 2017 Taco and they have spikes on the bottom that helps keep the passenger side anchored.

You will get mixed opinions any time you ask about OEM but my OEM all weather mats have been just fine. They are far better in quality than my second gen OEM mats were. I have had no issues except for the passenger mat not staying put (same issue for all of my cars not named Audi/VW) and I will be getting the floor mat retention posts for that.

I like mine a lot. Same issue with the passenger side mat moving. But this thread provides the needed fix. They are a pretty good price too. Especially for being an OEM part.

I've got the Husky X-act fits and the passenger one always moves forward an inch or two.

I used this type of hole saw to make the hole. I think I used the 1" saw. It produced a very tight fit and I had to stretch the hole I cut around the "fixing parts" then snap them together. When cutting the hole I used a piece of 2x4 behind the floormat, and held the floormat firmly to the 2x4 while drilling s-l-o-w-l-y.

I just did this mod today. I traced the medium sized hole on the round plastic piece to a sheet of paper to make a template, then after cutting the paper out I placed it on the rubber mat and drew the circle with a pen. Then used a razor blade to follow my lines. Worked perfectly. The whole process took maybe 10-15 min.

Try with contact cement to glue the Velcro to the back of the mat. Follow the instructions, put a fine coat of contact cement on both areas to be glued, then let them to rest for 20-30 min and after that proceed to put together. Use a slight weight pressure (use some weight to keep them joined under pressure). Let it dry for at least 10 hours (overnight is better). I found this glue holds exceptional well (if follow its instructions). Just be sure that both surfaces are dry, clean and doesn't have any oily residues.
