    WTF???

It is the 21st Century, you are right...

Is it too much to ask for a transmission that works properly in Drive?

ECT and S should be a bonus, not a prerequisite to drive normally.

I've never had a transmission this bad....(even back in the 20th Century)

Hey, I'm just the messenger. My girlfriend's new Wrangler JK drives great. You are not going to get it from Toyota anytime soon.

Read your manual, D is for maximum fuel efficiency during all driving conditions, ECT is when more response is desired and S restricts upper gears for unnecessary upshifting such as when it upshifts to optimize fuel efficiency to keep rpms low.

    Configure as conditions warrant.

It might not be what you want but that's the design and programming for what you bought.

Either learn to configure accordingly or buy something that runs like an older transmission in the future.

I still stand by my comments...

Besides, I couldn't find that in my manual...

    And I stand by mine...

just because you don't like something doesn't mean there's a problem with it. If YOU have a problem with the function, buy something else next time.

UPDATE ::: Took Taco into dealer, went thru all the weird shifting and such. As I expected , they found nothing in the control unit. It had the latest flash installed, but at my request, they reloaded it and also sat learned data back to zero. His current suggestion is to use the ECT toggle to make shifting feel more normal. He felt that Toyota is working on a new update. He said probably 75% of services have the owners complaining about shifting here and at many other dealers. So , I will wait. I did notice a marked improvement it the shifting, more solid, less mushy. So now driving hard to see if the re-learning process makes any differences in over all performance.
