    HELP!

Has anyone figured out how to disable the Seat Belt Chime on the 2017 TRD Off Road. I do a lot of rock crawling with the seat belt off and hanging my head out the window. All my previous trucks I was able to disable them. Ive tried the previous Gen 2 methods but they don't seem work on the Gen 3. The dealer told me they cannot disable a safety feature. Any help would be appreciated. I'm willing to drive across the country to a dealer that would do it. Thanks!

If you tell where you are located and how far you are willing to travel, someone with techstream or Carista access would probably be willing to do it for you in exchange for a cold beverage. It can be done and has been done both by members with the tool and some dealers, so its not impossible.
    Also, welcome to TW.

They can disable that feature iirc. You just have to find someone willing to do it. Most people are too worried about being liable for issues down the road to do it.

Dealer turned mine off just for the asking, no hassle. FWIW.

I haven’t tried it in my Tacoma, but typically what I would do is take a ballpoint pen cartridge (one of the cheapos, just the ink cartridge) and press down the metal piece in the seatbelt. Anything about that size should work, but the cartridge is pretty easy to find. Once it clicks, it thinks you are belted. Be careful not to get the cartridge stuck!

If this didn’t make sense, I’ll post pics of the process

Have had to do this for my last few Toyotas. Do this at your own risk. Im sure you know a seatbelt should always be worn, but I also realize that there are times when it's not practical to do so. I'm not going to lecture you. Unbolt your seat, it's only 4 bolts. Tilt it back and disconnect the plugs under it. You can now lift the seat out and set it on a bench or table, makes it much easier to work on. Remove the nut and remove the receptacle part of the seatbelt from the seat. You will see the cover is 2 parts. Using a putty knife or small screwdriver, pry off the cover. Follow the wires going in to a spring loaded switch on the inside with a white tab sticking out of it. Press the tabs, I think there are 2, and remove the switch. Grab a zip tie and push the white tab down. Zip tie it in the down position. Done. I wrapped mine with electrical tape and secured it and the excess wire under the seat in case I ever want to put it back in service. No more seatbelt chime or light for the driver's seat. I believe the airbag still believes you have your seatbelt on, so like I said before, I recommend still using your seatbelt. Doesn't affect any other seats. Put seat back in, connect wires, and bolt it back down.

dealer can change multiple setting with simple hook up to scan tool. eliminate seat belt alert, change number of blinks on lane change turn signal from standard 3 blinks to 6 or 7. My dealership happily changed several settings for me when I took mine in for 5k check up.

Mandatory tint, in-channel visors, and 265/75R16 MT Toyos.
Care to elaborate? I don't know what all can be changed and sometimes I don't realize how much a small thing can improve the truck.

The problem with the seat belt extenders is that now your truck 5inks you are wearing a seatbelt when you might not be and air bag deployment could be affected

Went to the dealer this morning for regular service. Asked them to turn off the seatbelt chime. He said they weren't capable of doing that. I called bs and finally he admitted that they have the tools and software to change it but he couldn't, otherwise Toyota would be open to lawsuits. Anyway, was a little disappointed, might have to try the carista, just didn't want to have to pay for it.

I got my dealer to disable the chimes. Lights still flash. I also have a crack version of techsteam i use to make these changes... wouldn't do anything crazy with it though.

Care to share how you got the techstream? I'd love it just to disable the seatbelt chime. My girl always waits a min before putting it on. The chime sounds like a bomb is getting ready to go off in my truck.

Thanks @CanadaToy , I just got my truck back and the service dept went ahead and disabled the chine for me after telling me they wouldn't. Also, I already have that cable, but not the techstream software, you have any idea how I'd acquire the software?
