Replacement 3rd Brake Light w/Cargo Light

Does anyone make a replacement 3rd brake light for the 2nd gen trucks with cargo lights incorporated in the design? I know it will mean running additional wiring, but it should be an easy thing to do if only someone makes the light assembly.

 

I do like this idea, lets see if anyone helps out cuz I have no idea where to look.

I'll have to check when I get home for sure but I think I found the clear lenses on ebay.

 

Those are nice but I prefer a cleaner look.

 

those are quite interesting but one would have to run a second wire. With using the third brake light the wires are there, all you would have to do is relocate to a switch.

 

Since there does not appear to be an item such as this (replacement light with cargo lighting), I would consider buying a "smoke" lens for the OEM light if such a thing exists. Does anyone know of a source for replacements covers/lenses?

 

@mattgecko sells a sweet under rail LED bed light. For my use I have no need of anything more.

 

I'm looking to replace my headlights and taillights with a darker look and thought it would be a good time to get a smoked 3rd brake light. The hope was that someone might make one with cargo lights in it, as well. I like the under rail lighting, but my main goal is to replace the existing light

I've looked at several smoked lens replacements on ebay, one that seems to be like the one you linked but with the darker lens. I will probably go with one of those if the search for one with cargo lights comes to an end with no options.

I looked at a 3rd gen light with cargo lights today, but they appear to be too big to work on a 2nd gen.

 

Oh I see, my main motivation to be able to light up the bed at night while I'm loading it or maybe even camping or something, in which case I think this one might do the trick.

 

I have flush mounted led bed lights and they work awesome!

 

I'm thinking the beauty of using the third breaklight location is that I wouldnt have to run another wire, just relocate the brake light wire down at the pedal over to a switch some where. Wiring and electrical are not my strong points but thats how I'm envisioning it.

 

Thats smart. i never thought of that. Youd need to find a clear lens for the light too so it doesnt light up red because red would be useless.

 

The problem is that it is illegal to disable a 3rd brake light that came equipped on the vehicle.

the worst that would happen is you would get a warning, its all easy enough to switch back if need be.

 

When I'm stopping, I want all my brake lights so bright that people slam on their brakes, thinking they're about to crash into the sun.

I really think that a lot of the Tacos that get rear ended are a result of the factory LED taillights.
