    I do have this picture of before i grounded it. Ima drill a hole in the bracket ext and run a bolt through it for ground on sat morning. Hoping it will help better. I currently have it grounded to the ditch light bracket.

    @JBTacoma
    Excellent. Thank you sir. After reading that I believe the ground plane is my issue. I did exaclty what it said to as far as the meter goes. Hopefully i can get it down a bunch after properly grounding it.

    You may have to scrap off some of the paint on the bracket to get it to ground.
    Make sure the antenna is grounded to the ditch light bracket and the ditch light bracket is grounded to your truck.

    Now im not supposed to hook a ground to the antenna itself? The antenna isnt supposed to touch anything metal? Just have to make sure its mount is grounded to the truck.

    Now that i read that it sounds kinda assholish. I promise im not being one lol.

    It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
    yes, and make sure the plastic washer on your mount is fully covering the antenna. it looked ok in the pic but better double check. because my ditch light bracket is powder coated with not ground wire and my swr was fine once i fixed that washer.

    Not sure if you noticed but he has he fire ring coax connection, not the pl-259. He still needs to grind the same point, also @tweakit88 make sure the connection on the fire ring is really good

    Yeah I know, but I've seen fire rings cause issues for people before in the cb specifics thread
