Any ideas on how to replace this rod from the door latch assembly?

The complete assembly costs at least $180. What a shame that would be.

Part of the problem is that PO was getting by with a rod that was pulled from another vehicle. This particular rod was all bent up to fit an aftermarket door handle.

What side is that from? You could probably buy a whole door for less than $180 and sell the rest.

Put your location under "You>Personal Details" up top and someone local may be able to help you as well.

    +1 on entire door.

Then you could get an OEM door handle, too. Check your local junkyard, since you don't need the door itself, you can probably even a dented one for cheap.

That looks like a passenger door, but if not, I think I have a set of door hardware for the driver side.

Many of my door issues, broken handles and bent rods were cured when i cleaned the door latches and relubed them.

    Thanks!

    It is a passenger door.

Good thought on the whole door as it occurs to me that, even if I had a good rod, I might not be able to get it into the assembly without breaking it.

Unfortunately, I had scoured the junk yards before posting

What is the latch install like? I can't see how one would get the thing out of there!

check car-part.com, But also these guys are here in town and have a bunch of tacos http://www.aaabroadwayautoparts.com/ , I have never been to their site, always ordered online or through a shop.

Latch removal is super easy, disconnect rods, couple bolts or screws (cant remember), and then it just falls out. They are riveted shut, soooooooo I just shot a can of brake clean through each. It was the cheapest brake clean I could find in the hopes it wouldnt eat the plastic. Before I even lubed it, it was way smoother then ever before. I was breaking door handles, interior or exterior every few months. The dust
