    lol not doing that.

Im bumping to a new page. I got a few complaints in the last report about there being too many images on one page. So i always do a new chapter on its own page.

Wasn't enough talk in here so i just do that shit to get to the next page.

Man, you've been all over the trip reports lately! I saw updates to the MDU report, so I read through those and then saw this thread.

This story still brings a smile to my face. The chances of us crossing paths the way we did had to have been a million in one. I didn't know how else to get in touch with you so I figured I would either follow you until you pulled over, or I ran out of gas haha.

Following you that first night through those back roads and then down Onion Creek had me thinking a few times "What am I doing? I talked to this guy on the internet once before, met him for the first time on the side of the interstate by chance, and now I'm following him into the desert to camp with him and one of his friends. This is what horror movies are made of."

Totally worth it. It's a story we'll never forget.

We had a blast wheeling and camping with you guys. We actually spent another night at that site near Onion Creek. Such a fun trail and a great camp site.

I'm really glad you got the rig fixed and were able to head back out. After we went our separate ways I thought I should have got your number in-case you did get the truck fixed and wanted to come back, you would have been more than welcome to join us on White Rim since we had reservations, but the Maze looks pretty amazing too.

Thanks for the compliments on the rig. I've been putting the miles on her this year. Rolled over 233k miles this weekend, still runs like new. Lots of small trips in the South East exploring around, and I made a trip out to Colorado in July, and a trip to Canada in August for some more exploring. I'm behind on my own trip reports and need to get them posted, maybe this weekend for the Colorado one at least...

She also got new shoes a couple weeks after coming back from Moab. Went with the same tires as you, and I love them so far.

All that armor that looked new and shiny when we met has been used and scratched up now, broken in :)

And we're from Alabama, not Georgia, not that there's any difference really haha. If you ever find yourself down here for some reason let me know!

Sorry about the issues with my Flickr pictures. I changed the settings on my Moab trip pictures to friends and family so I think you can access them now? Feel free to use any of them. Let me know if you have any issues accessing them.

I read somewhere you moved to California I think? Hope that is working out well for you!

    Gavyn!

Sorry about the georgia thing :anonymous: I'll fix it.

It was an awesome time and was super stoked to run into you! What a story and fun time. No doubt im sure you have many thoughts of...wtf am i doing? hahahaha Good times.

Would have joined you on White rim for sure! Didn't think that one through..but yes. The Maze is awesome, you should go some time!

Sounds like you've had a kick ass summer of wheeling!! Glad you're putting the rig to good use  And i know the feels. Hell i just finished these trips..were months ago. It's a good problem to have though! Glad you like the tires! I still really like mine as well.

Now you know why i was bummed your photos where private as well haha :p

Not in Cali..yet. Still working in MT but very likely i'll end up there very soon to follow the work.

Really hope to see you again some day! Was a hoot. Shame our next trip is during school or you could have tried to make that one. Next time though!

Yeah it's been a pretty good summer! Lots of new things seen, and places explored. These tires are so quiet. That's what amazes me most. I didn't realize how loud my BFGs had gotten.

It didn't occur to me that you were writing the trip report for this trip already, I thought you were working on the MDU trip still haha.

Yeah I wish I could join you on your upcoming trip. I might try and make it out to Moab in March 2018 again, I'll let you guys know if I do. Also have some fuzzy not concrete plans that are dependent on many other things to take a very long trip late spring/early summer next year after graduation. I'm thinking 3-4 weeks, maybe longer. Go up the Pacific Coast exploring California, Oregon, Washington and then through Canada to Alaska, and back down through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, etc. No idea if that'll be doable or not, but I hope I can make it happen. I'll let you know if I'm back out that way anytime soon!

Montana looks beautiful too, not a bad place to be at all.

Haha we thought it was pretty funny when he relayed you that message over the radio, but like Monte said we had been on the road for quite awhile and were probably getting delirious...

Being with you guys the first few days in Moab really gave me a feel for how things work out there with camping and what not. It's SOOOO different than it is down here in the South I really didn't know what I was getting into.

It has been a lot of driving, but gas is still low, and there's always something new to see. I'm sure I'll be out that way again, there's so much that I still haven't seen. Next time I'll try to make my arrival a little more planned :)

I've changed my oil 6 times this year so far... But when you get a week paid off from work unexpectedly what else do you do other than drive straight to Colorado and go wheeling for 5 days? I made it from Alabama to Colorado Springs in less than 24 hours, picked Derek up at the Airport and we headed west into the mountains.

Montana is a bit...on fire right now. So not that great atm lol

You guys have this whole fly out and go on a trip thing ironed out haha Derek has it easy id say :p

Yeah they are nice and quiet. Wear nice as well. i've put a lot of miles on mine but i bet you have more by now haha

4 weeks for all that is pretty ambitious honestly. I think you'd spend too much time driving and not enough time stopping to enjoy whats there. BUT could still do one HELL of a cool trip with that much time off. I know im pushing for 4 weeks just to do Canada and AK again. haha

Impromptu trips are the best :D this is proof of it. Keep it up man! Im sure we will cross paths again someday.

About 15k on mine now and they still look new. Even wear too.

Didn't know that about Montana. Down here all the talk is about Harvey and Irma. For Moab he rode out there and back with me, we had a different friend from Wisconsin fly into Salt Lake City the day we all went our separate ways. For Colorado he couldn't ride out there with me but rode back with me. His flight to CO went through Atlanta so I think I actually had the more pleasant experience haha. I hate that city with a passion.

I just looked up generic google maps times and you might be right about being too ambitious. I might have to pick either AK or the West Coast, or extend it a couple weeks. Of course this is all hypothetical and I haven't looked that deep into it yet, but if things line up I should be able to make something amazing happen.

any trip that long..would be awesome. I want to do a trip that long. Doing 17 nights was stellar. More would just be..better right? :D

Yeah the hurricanes are nuts. Up here the fires are burning everything.

I'm pretty sure the phrase the more the merrier applies to nights spent camping. Right?:notsure:

So I stumbled across this with just under 2 weeks till I leave. You have me even more excited for my trip now. I do worry about my rear wheel bearings now though. Just replaced the one last summer, I should have done both but didn't. I have a spare bearing i can bring with me but not tone rings or seals. Not to mention no access to a machine shop out there. Really hoping I will be alright, seems like those rears can go for 300k or just randomly go one day for no reason. Truck has felt great though, best it's felt in a long time.

yeah i know. Its annoying. People ask me when a good time to change them is and...well. :notsure: when they blow up! haha

Igor has new bearings in all 4 corners now though. So that is nice.

    Still annoying..

Just got back from there again. still a great place. Weather was kinda crazy this time, a lot of rain. Some really big storms. Hope its sunny and hot for you! been super odd weather all around the rockies this fall. too wintery too fast
