Good morning Just finished taking the dogs out for morning run and poop. And cleaning up the carpet from the oldest one throwing up last night. Apparently a dog can eat too many carrots.

Be safe Jim and don't over do it! 16 hours is a lot of sandbag filling. Know that I'd be a hurting unit long by now if it was me. Good luck and hope it is all a non event.

Same here real feel of 45*. Grouse opens next weekend. And of course it is supposed to warm up next week grhhh..

Think this weekend is a good one to cut weed trees and start on hedges. And make sure the snowblower is working.

Propane also doesn't gum up the carb, right? I need to put in a second receptacle by the garage to plug mine in. I had the electrician put the box in the back of the house when he wired in the transfer switch and wasn't thinking about hauling the generator around the house. The second receptacle will go in the garage and I'll run the power cord through the mail slot. Good enough for me...

I have to clean the wood stove chimney liner - today might be the day. It's a PIA because there's a bend in it to get all the way to the basement. And I'm not a fan of the ladder. The house is a single story low ranch so it's not like I'm too high up there; and it's a center stack chimney. Also the wife wants to go to the nursery this afternoon and pick out plants and a tree for the front yard. I have a case of Amsoil HD metal protector to spray the frame with but that's not going to happen today without a miracle.

 

@gugman - Bob, I looked a diesel as well. The few I saw specifically noted not to run on heating oil. Why? I don't know. I have a 9KW Honeywell unit that I bought for $999. The same size diesel was about $3k at the time.

Of course a 9KW unit will burn up so much gas that I'll need a tanker at the house but c'est la vie (the Falcon is an extra few gas cans and easy to siphon)... And if I'm going to run a generator, I want to be able to have every light on in the house...

Hedges are cut.
I'll let them dry then pick them up and mow this afternoon before rain comes... I hope.
Going to dig a trench and put a outdoor ext. cord to the shed. When I do the change over to winter I'll run power inside. Don't use it very often but a light at night would be nice. Think a simple pull chain and a 100 watt led bulb will be good enough.

 

To be clear the power be fed to building is not a new service requiring a meter base, this is a subfeed from an existing building correct?
