as some of you know that followed my 3rd gen build, I ended up selling it to save a little money and I bought a house...

that being said, awhile ago I bought a 100% bone stock 2009 Tacoma Double Cab Short Bed TRD Off Road... the mods / build commenced.

I found a fellow member that wanted to return to stock, ordered some new parts, and kind of pieced this thing together. I hope you all enjoy it!

    the day I bought it:

    As it currently sits:

    Looks good, Caleb.

Just remember... just because C is the default answer on a multiple choice test when you don't know. Cut isn't the default when a part won't come off. Swaybar endlink

PS: The hardware from your tailgate skin is in the CB antenna cable box. Just incase you didn't see it.

Yeah. I needed somewhere to put it, so they didn't get lost and the box was handy. I meant to tell you last night but forgot will everything going on. You should be able to use the stock hardware to mount the new skin and tailgate cap.

    the things that went wrong:
    1. I cut a sway bar end link (my fault) because I didnt see the Allen key to hold it in place to get the nut off
    2. we had to cut a castle nut off a UCA ball joint
    3. a strut mounting bolt had to be cut on one of the Toytec coilovers
    4. the AAL that we were supposed to install on my truck was broken in half
    5. my rear shocks have to be cut off (so we couldnt even touch the rear of either of our trucks)

    My solutions for said problems:
    1. remove sway bar
    2. ordered 2 new castle nuts for the UCAs from Fastenal (believe it or not, not one Auto Parts store had them)
    3. we put the Toytec coilovers in, but in 3 weeks I'm grabbing the Icons coilovers from ArcticElf... so I'll pull them out then and probably put them up for sale.
    4. Ordered a new Toytec AAL
    5. Ordered some el Cheapo eBay rear shocks for John's truck so I can cut mine off, and install the Icons

Well if you need a sway bar man, you can take mine if you want. It wont be used again on my ride. Bummer as I think @Superman910 could of hooked up the rear shocks. For an install that you had, unfortunately we didn't think ahead and asked for folks who might of had extras in the event that not everything came off smoothly. Glad to see its pretty much done though, which Im sure has been a factor in the back of your mind for a while.

that'd be great man... I'll take you up on that sway bar! thanks!

and the eBay shocks were only $40 so it didnt hurt too bad.

I still have to install the Ultragauge, IFS skid, sliders, Icon coilovers, CB / antenna / cable, rock lights, new headlights and bulbs.... so I'll be busy for awhile. haha

Depending on how motivated you are, you could knock most of that out in an afternoon. I would give it a little bit more to install the CB if you don't already have a game plan as far as location and stuff.

Sounds good man, atleast you should be well versed in removing coilovers. Just by looking at the sliders, you might have to drill some holes in your frame to get some of the supports to bolt up. It shouldn't take long regardless though. As far as running a cb, its really just running a positive and negative lead from your battery through your firewall. After that just route the coax through the grommet underneath the drivers seat and zip along the frame. It does help having another truck there so you can see exactly the routing if you havnt done a cb before.

Looks good man! Sounded like an interesting mod day/install bummed I missed it. Definitely need to make it out there and do some camping, wheeling, drinking and fire pit time man. We should do a meetup and head out to sleepy creek and wheel and camp and have a bon fire.
