I just bought a 2008 Tacoma this July, a week later I had a frame inspection done and it failed with a hole just bigger then 10mm. The dealer took pictures and sent it through and I was approved by Toyota, should be in a couple months so I was told. I even contacted Toyota and they said my truck and myself were eligible. Hey whatever, works for me!!:D:D

Yeah it seems that dealers are replacing any owner no matter the purchase date.

I didn't want to risk it, and needed a new truck, but I'm really happy for the folks who are getting new frames.

I was thinking that these Tacomas are still on the road, possibly with rust holes. People trade them in and dealers polish them up and stick them on the lot without even checking the frame. So my point being someone buys it and finds out it has a hole or 2 in it and it fails inspection. Probably cheaper for Toyota/dealer to just replace the frame then face a 93A triple damages suit. Just my opinion though.

The dealer is putting it in writing for me tomorrow morning. They own the loaner and said they have no issue billing Toyota for it. The written paperwork basically will say that if Toyota won't reimburse, they'll eat it. But they're apparently so certain that they reserved 20 loaner trucks to accommodate Rusty Tacoma Owners, here at my dealer. Long story short, I'm gladly driving a Frontier for 2-3 months till a frame gets here, and installed. I feel like I'm in a mini-van with this Nissan though. lol. No lift, no excitement, grey. Blah... Funny thing is that in 2008 I bought the Frontier over the Tacoma. I got a better deal on it. Years later, I went back and got the Taco. The Frontier was a nice truck, just not exciting at all, and it never got any compliments. I get compliments on the Tacoma all the time; at least a few a week. I miss my truck already.

Letters are going to be mailed soon but you can go to the dealer. They should know about it, if they act like the don't call Toyota corp.

I received a phone call. They're expecting a lot of trucks. I've been calling every other week. Frames are not in yet though.

Now I know what the frame replacement program is and does. I can't say exactly how, but I can answer some specific questions. The Frame Warranty Extension Program, or "ZH6", as it's now called is running. You will get a rental beyond 7 days. Special thanks to Jones Junction Toyota for sitting with me and explaining in fine details, what my rights and options are. You guys can count on this dealer.

Added side note: Toyota is not to beat on the frame and go digging for a hole, per my person at Toyota. I would encourage people to inspect their own frames properly beforehand. These frames rust from the inside out, I was able to easily determine mine was bad, when my hydraulic jack went through it, (doing brakes (yes, they're called brakes, not breaks) just behind the cats, at the bend, on the drivers side.

New brake lines, frame, ball joints, tie rod ends, and lower control arms, and bushings, and other misc bolts. I'm pretty happy, at the moment. Plus, it's nice just to have my own truck back. If anyone is in Central Maryland, definitely use Jones Junction. They are fantastic!

Hey sorry for thread revival but I've got some questions. Ive done some extensive research and am seeing conflicting information. Here's the question i just sent over to the official settlement website:

    Good Day,
I will try to be brief. Im hoping you can help me. Ive read extensively through the website and court documents and have a clarification question. I purchased my 2009 Toyota Tacoma in December 2018. Because i was not an owner prior to December 2016, does this mean i am not a part of the Class? And subsequently, unable to receive any benefits from the settlement? If so, is it possible that if i get a hold of the prior owner who owned the vehicle before December 16, that i can coordinate somehow with him to get the frame replaced, as he is a part of the Class and we are still within 12 years of the Date of First use (9/2/2008)? Is it within the settlement that any owner within that timeframe is entitled to a frane replacement, even if they are not the current owner anymore?
Any and all information will be helpful.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
    Best,
    Bryan

But according to this post, it seems like @kilroy2963 is in a similar situation to me. Purchased after Dec 2016 (which seemed like the cutoff for owners on the FAQ page of the settlement website). Im also still within the 12 years after the date of first use. So can anyone help clarify if they think I'll be covered? My frame is def fucked... thanks
P.S. its been inspected and sprayed under the previous owner, but not replaced. At this time, i see some holes begginning to flake apart, and i believe i would be approved for replacement if inspected again.
EDIT: i guess this post also answers my question, but am just looking for any further clarification and information that would be helpful as i head to the dealer and get an inspection and try to get a replacement.

Dude, just take your truck to the dealership and have them inspect the frame. They'll do the rest. The reason there've been no more posts recently is because the dealerships eventually figured out how to get everyone frames that were eligible. There was some bumbling at first. I suppose that's why, once I got mine fixed, I went ahead and traded it in on something else. The truck did have to be registered to the person doing the claim. I do remember that. Not sure how they knew how long I'd had it. I don't remember answering such questions. Idk.... Just don't commit fraud as a countermeasure to personal fears or wants. Last I checked, that's a criminal offense.

Your right that would be the obvious next move. Thanks for just telling me to get my ass out to the dealer and get it done rather than rambling on and reviving new threads. Was just looking for any new info and was potentially wanting to be able to help anyone else reading these threads in the same boat as me.
    Appreciate the immediate response OP.
    Cheers
