I'm poking around my Taco today just finding where everything is located, part numbers, etc. I decided to remove the taillight to make a note of what bulbs are used.

I removed the top and bottom bolts behind the assembly and everything wiggles quite a bit.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

Should be two bolts on the top and one bolt on the bottom. Then you jerk it out with some force.

    Thanks for the info!

Pull straight back or out to the side?

Never mind. I got it. I see there is a little catch pin back there. It had a death grip on the assembly.

For those that might find this thread helpful, pull straight back. The pin is right where the lens starts to curve down on the fender of the truck.

I got it. There is a retaining pin that seriously had a hold on the assembly. It sounded like a gunshot when it let go!

For those of you who haven't done this, be sure to brace yourself while pulling.

Pretty sure the owners manual has the bulb info. No need to tear your truck apart.
