Been awhile since I posted. Got a good job and been grinding away at life. Threw some new beck arnley lower ball joints on her after seeing like 50 posts in two days on 2 Facebook tacoma groups of catastrophic failures. The driver side BJ hit the floor and it split. Part of it went pinging off into God knows where. I was a pothole away from death.

I ordered the power stop brake upgrade for an 05 Tundra on rockauto. New pics when it gets here. Brakes sorely needed. Pads have meat but rotors too thin to cut at work. Might as well upgrade lol. Had a scary Jack knife situation hauling my toolbox to work when I first started. Brakes overheating

Edit: just ordered the wheelers brake lines good god damn those motherfuckers are expensive. 72 fucking beans. -_- lets hope they dont decide to make up some bullshit 55 dollar shipping charge

I understand how it goes, I've had to take a knee a couple times in my life as well. We are planning on attending the Appalachian Toyota Round Up event on Labor Day weekend which will be about as close as we will get for awhile.

If you've got any questions don't hesitate to ask. I've done this mod and love it, it's a fairly easy task but you never know. Good luck

Will do. Seems pretty straightforward stuff as far as installing brakes go. Dust shield will get cut all the way off if it remotely annoys me more then it should lol. Cut-off wheel gives no fucks.

I used a dremel and it was easy. Then I just bent the rest of it out of the way

Finally got it all done. Truck stops on a dime. Absolute world of difference in stopping power. Plus they look badass. I ordered the Power Stop kit from RockAuto for a 2005 Tundra. I do NOT like the Wheelers lines. they bolt right up but the midway point on the line meant to bolt up to the strut was no where near close to the location. got it ziptied to the frame and strut. whatever. not worth the 70 bucks in my opinion. -_- Anyway ill stfu. Heres some pics.

What do you mean the mount for the strut? Are you talking about the part that bolts to the spindle/knuckle? You know that can slide anywhere on the line right?

I figured it should, but mine doesn't and I did not want to fuck up the line. It looks like it SHOULD just slide up and down the line with ease to be placed at whatever spot I want. Thats what common sense says to me anyway. I even sprayed some wd40 on the line itself trying to ee if it would slide. its locked solid. maybe i just got a pair of shit lines? i dunno. i didnt have the time tonight since we knocked it out after work. ill probably go in on my day off and see what can be done. ill update on the situation when the time allows. all of my factory stuff went right into the scrap metal bin. LF caliper was partially seized, right front was metal to metal on the inner pad eating the rotor.

hmmm that's weird they won't move. The ones I got from wheelers were a little stiff, but I was still able to move them without any lube. It really doesn't matter as long as the line isn't rubbing on anything.

Its clutch time. Took about 2.5 hours to pull the trans. We didn't have a trans jack and it's the original clutch. Input shaft was stuck good in the pilot bearing.... Which leads to my fail. No amount of wet bread, grease, paper towel, compressed air and cursing got that SOB to move by any means. Just ordered the OTC 4581 from Amazon to get that mofo out. Matco doesn't have shit. 206k on it so its not surprising its damn near welded itself to the fucking crank.

Well, that was a 9 day nightmare. In the last post, you saw trans on the ground. Took 2 hours of prying cursing and literally kicking that mofo before the input shaft came out of the pilot bushing. Once that nightmare was complete, the next task was to do rear main and the pilot bushing. That's where the truck told me to go fuck myself. The pilot bushing was basically fused with the crank. I tried every trick in the book to get that thing out. Wet paper towels. Grease. Wet bread. Compressed air. None of that budged this thing at all.

I had to give up push the turd outside and it sat for a week while I waited for a blind hole puller set from Amazon. Literally, 30 seconds with that set and it came flying right out with a solid THUNK. Getting it all back together kinda sucked as well. Not having a trans jack we had to 2 man he-man/floor jack that mofo into place. seeing as I didn't wanna futz with separating trans and transfer case, and I didn't have money to redo all the fluids, I left it intact. that makes it weigh a metric shit ton when you are laying on the ground with the truck floating on the lift 2 inches over your head. Finally got it all back together....and I realize the shifter bushing for the transfer case.....is FUBAR. Literally fell apart like my old one did for the trans lol. I guess I should have found a replacement for that at the same time. No idea if Marlin Crawler makes a bushing for that as well. For now, I just jammed it back in there without a bushing at all. 2HI all day everyday lol. Gotta remember to take care of that before trying to ever put it back in 4wd. Don't think it will like it very much.

I've put about 50 miles on it in last few days. Stop and go traffic to and from work. Clutch feels brand new. Pedal snaps back instantly. Other than the fuckery of having an old truck, Shes proving yet again to be a reliable old bird. Little maintenance every once in awhile and she just keeps on chugging.

Nothing much going on with the truck. Got a sweet shift knob for xmas. Saw it on a members truck on the forum, mentioned it to the wife and she picked it up for me.

Been fighting a check engine light for last month or two. Evap purge something something. I replaced the gas cap and cleared code. It's hard as fuck to take off gas cap when filling. It went off and monitors were good long enough to pass emissions for the year. Then it turned right back on. Pretty sure I need to replace the entire vent canister assembly and lines. Expensive AF and don't wanna do it to be honest.

Anyway here's a few pics of the shift knob. Hell no I'm not cleaning the truck. Don't care haha.20171225_140802.jpg 20171225_181307.jpg
