Damm being an East coaster that's freaking awesome if I could put an arrow through an elk of even this caliber I'd die a happy man

I sat in my stand and thought I heard a bugle way off up the hill from me. My wife was sitting outside at the house and confirmed she heard one too. I didnt see anything come through...good thing because I left my release at the 4wheeler and walked in a couple hundred yards to my stand...:anonymous:

typically I have it looped on my bow for obvious reasons....which I thought I did...but last time I shot it, i just hung it on the end and not looped on it...so when i took my bow out of the case it came off in the case. I usually dont do this but every once in a while it happens

yeah Im not too sure of the accuracy trying to shoot with fingers...So Im glad nothing came through. Its good to get a couple practice runs in before the real deal. Otherwise I really would have been mad if I couldnt shoot at one if it were to have come in....

Nailed this deer at 8:45 this morning. Had a perfect stalk, shot at 33 yards through the lungs, ran about 40 yards then rolled 40 yards down the hill. I've never had a hunt go as well as this one, not a single deer smelled me or saw me moving, even had a group of does walk past me at 20 yards as I laid behind a bush that was a foot tall. Shot it at the top of the hill in the background.

I flip flop on which tag to get for elk. One year I try to get more of a bow season and one year more of a rifle season. This year is a longer rifle season...and go figure I get a bull to come in close. If I was trying I prob could have got to him. But I was just seeing if I could get him to come in. Also only had 6 days to hunt elk with a bow this year and that ended the 12th... He got within about 80yds and the wind swirled and the cows busted me. I didnt get to see them but I know they were really close.:goingcrazy::pout:

Had a doe come in about 70 yds, thought about taking a doe but then her fawn popped along right behind her...so I passed, I wanted her to come in another 40 yds but I doubt I would have taken her with a fawn...eventhough I know the fawn would be ok at this point.
