You going to fix that little bit of the tailgate as well or just leave it as is? The edge beside the 4x4 emblem. Looks a little dinged as well.

Almost 3k for that? Shit at that point I would just go glass bedsides and then get a set of aftermarket tails that you like. I would have him touch up the tailgate though. BTW, I had a fender bender where my whole front end of my second gen took a hit where the drivers side fenderwell, bottom of frame, grill, dash, and fenders had been smashed up as well as a new front support for the engine bay...shit cost me like 5k. The fact that yours cost more than half makes me think you are getting royally screwed, but I guess if insurance is covering it then whatever.

Maybe @mesojdm can help with the aftermarket tails, if you decide to go that route..... And i agree, that quote seems steep. Time for a second or turd opinion I think.

Had a guy back into me causing less damage than that. $3600 to fix, good luck OP! Mine was caught on surveillance, insurance paid it all.

Yeah insurance is covering all but the deductible. Deductible would hit me no matter where I went. Bit high...the shop doing it has a good rep for quality work. If I were doing it all out of pocket then I would def get other quotes.

Yea that is true as many shops have their "insurance" price. Good luck man, if that were me I would use that as serious mod money as that can easily lead to a solid aftermarket rear.

On a side note, I wonder if you actually removed the individual bedside and had them work on just that what they might charge? Considering they likely didn't take it apart to configure the "exact" damage, I find it pretty overinflated. Worst case, you just get some new support pieces and a new bedside area and then straight up the boxed area underneath the taillight. The boxed area could be slightly off or whatever as long as the bedside can still wrap around it. Regardless, having a decent rear bumper could help prevent this from happening again down the road.

    In progress.... And getting better!
    I do not like!

Another option is to let your insurance company know that you will have the damages repaired by your choice of body shop. They should just cut you a check for the amount that the body shop quoted you and then take care of the repairs as you see fit. That way you can do aftermarket. Hope you get what's right!

Also, these trucks are very expensive to repair. Back in January, I had a guy plow into me doing 40+ mph while I was in stand still traffic. Did over $5k damage! Truck took the hit well though, but not so good me. Back, neck, shoulder. New tailgate, rear driver side quarter panel, bumper, lights, etc. Would have been worse if it wasn't for the tow hitch. The '94 Pathfinder was pissing fluid all over the roadway and had to be towed away on a flatbed. I would have been able to drive away had it not been for the injuries.IMG_1885.jpgIMG_1887.jpg

Note the nice square notch in the hood where the hitch impacted.IMG_1890.jpg
