Heard about that, that paired with the dead whale in oceanside probably has something to do with it, sad situation hope she recovers well

Just joined and found this thread. Hello all, just wondering what you guys use for racks. The reason I ask, my truck came w/ a tonneau cover. I had one on my Tundra, but sold it, kind of a pain. I have a scorp bay trip planned so the cover will come in handy. it appears the factory ones are the complete front to back rails w/ crossbars. i was looking for a less expensive alternative, thank you in advance.

Recently moved to San Diego from Illinois and picked up surfing. Quiver is pretty small for now. I picked up this 7'-6" Baton-R from Craigslist for $80. It just barely fits in my bed. Certainly not name-brand or high-tech but it serves me well! I took the below picture at Tourmaline.

@salladh That was definitely me. It's funny because I remember checking out what I can only assume to be your truck and thinking to myself "That's a good looking Tacoma". Thanks man!

I just bought the oem for $280 and installed myself. Well worth it for me. But most people say prinsu is the best (also pretty spensive).

Here's a shot with two 12' sup boards on top, couple short boards and hella other gear under tonneau with an 8' softtop poking out. IMG_5749.jpg

Thank you for the reply, I was thinking of going that route. I have lead on some Yakimas from a guy on here. if that falls through I might have to go back to the OEM plan. Nice looking rig:thumbsup:

Anyone into body surfing? Just shaped and started glassing these little hand planes this weekend.

They are turning out ok... Pretty steep learning curve working with resin tints, but I'm powering through it anyway. I'll post finished pics once they are finished and all cleaned up

I love me some body whomping with a hand plane! Shaped a board a couple years back and with the left over foam shaped this little guy. The board I call the tub sock. The handplane I call the ankle sock. Crazy how much more fun body surfing is with a handplane!

Wow that board is wild looking. And nice glass job! Looks like it came out pretty good!

Ha! You read my mind! Some time soon I'll do another run of these and sell them for what the supplies cost me. I'll let you know then :). These ones are all of pretty poor quality glass jobs, and being gifted to my friends. Due to a wrist injury I can't pop up surfing (4 months now), so I've been confined to womping. I might actually be having more fun than I could if I was surfing though!

Thanks. the surfboard looks more fun than it is. mostly because i sanded so much planing surface out of it. it was already a short board 5'4'', but then i sanded the rocker into it and took away tons of flat surface to make paddling into waves easier. was the first board i shaped, so no harm no foul. was a blast to do. and i have TONS of fun surfing it because i created it. when waves are head high its a blast.

How's your recovery gear/spare parts box looking? Mexico is not the best place to get stuck or break down :D

Actually trying to put something together for the week before thanksgiving. Planning to just hit the northern coast this time and pay a few visits to the 7 sisters :)

I would be down to make a trip down south. I don't know a lick of Spanish and my truck is mostly stock but I'll bring beers and boards!

I really don't know where to go though...

Truck and accessories are a work in progress. Currently for recovery I have a set of maxtracs, a sketchy jack, bubba rope, shovel, a tow hitch shackle and getting a passenger side aftermarket recovery point here soon. As far as spare parts, I've don't have anything. I got quite a few zip ties and a whole lot of duck tape lol. Definitely open for suggestions/advice for gear to survive in baja. Would love to start making frequent small trips and work up to a central/southern baja adventure.

Wish I was around then though, have heard stories of dreamy rights at the sisters. Looking for post-christmas and on...
