Oh ok makes sense. I actually test drove one that didn't work when I hit the button.

It's usually a pretty easy solenoid fix, mine's always worked like a charm but my rig only has 54k miles on it so we'll see how it holds up over time.

If you really want to go all manual, find a 1st gen with manual hubs...those are hard to find though. I'm pretty sure they stopped doing manual hubs after 2000.

I'm ok with the auto hub. I'm sure I'll be very happy with the 2004 I'm getting.
I'll make another thread showing pics when I get it. I might take the bed off and do some preventive rust work since it's never seen a cold climate.

Clutch master cylinder? Also make sure in the test drive to be aware of any steering rack jiggle or bump steer. If so the rack bushings need to be replaced which isn't cheap labor-wise.

Bingo. I have the J shift and prefer it for this very reason. That's also the reason a lot of people go away from the E-locker and convert to manual. Electronics just tend give you trouble over time.

This one is listed by "Brad Auto Group"can't recall if that is who had it listed before but that exact pic has been listed on craigslist off and on since last November. I know because I saw it before I bought mine in December. Have a hard time believing that it would still be sitting unsold for $7999 with 80,000 miles if it is legit, clean, original. Certainly seems like something doesn't add up. They have the VIN in the listing, which also shows it for sale since 2016. If you are going to pursue follow Old School's advice. Craigslist is full of scams so be cautious.

I smell fish here. The contact is to bradautogroup where you can't buy it but you can get "approved". That means giving your personal sensitive data. That smells like a identity theft scam.

I feel like a thief after reading this thread, I only paid $1,000$ for mine, I have since put another $1,000$ into it. The bottom is rusted, and it now needs a minor frame repair, but it has served me well over the last 13 months. I have begun preserving the frame where I can access it by using Corroseal rust converter and spray paint top coat, and I fabricate and weld so boxing and strengthening are both on the table, if I weren't so old and tired I'd have it done by now.

My truck, the picture is about a year old.

Payed $10,800 for my 04 DC 4x4 sr5 TRD with 164k on it just a few months ago. Sounds about the same condition as mine. I would try and talk him down some. I'm in NC if that helps any
