First of all let me say there is a God, I know that now. Got home from work made a cup joe and fired up the laptop. Little before 5 plenty of time to surf around and get ready for the 6 o'clock festivities. Next thing I know I sense the dog getting antsy ,dinner time, and I find myself trying to wake up from a deep sleep. Oh shit I nodded off, what time is it? Computer screen dark, frantically trying to wake it. Fuck! 6:02PM. C'mon bookmarks get me to the website.

There they are, what I've been trying to get for the last 6 months. Ray 10s, bronze 16s. It let me enter 5 into cart but when I went to cart said just 3 available. Damn, try again but this time said just 1 available. Well that's it, I totally blew it, and this time it was my owm damn fault.

I don’t know why but I kept SCS website open in a tab and every 10 mins or so would check back. Somethings happening things that weren't available now were, and then they'd be gone again. But not my bronze Ray 10s.

I was just about to shut down computer at about 7 o'clock and went to look one more time. OMG there they are, was able to only get 4 into cart. Don't care I'll take them. Paypal one touch and they're mine, even got set of lug nuts. What the hell I got lucky can i do it again? Went back once again and it let me get one more. Don't know where it came from but I dont care , they're all mine.

Sorry for the rambling post. I just don't think I go one more month trying to get these.

I already asked Vin about pre-ordering seven months ago. He said "No". I'm been waiting for more than seven months to get this wheels. I'm ready to throw the towel and buy the TRD Wheels instead.

I’m giving up on these guys. It’s sad cuz they are some awesome rims , but you get to the point where you just feel stupid. I’ve been patiently waiting for several months now. Buying wheels should not be this difficult @SCSPerformance get your act together.

Soooo tempted to snag them.. The ones I initially wanted too. But not sure I'm ready to pull the trigger quite yet. Keep changing my mind..

But I'm also contemplating their brushed gold if/when they come around again. But I bet it'll be tough luck to get those quick enough on checkout process like the other popular choices when they do make them available again.. This is the truck that has me  over them golds.
    vin_ray10-32_lowres_zpsb1cq1ikh.jpg

So, gimme some opinions guys.. What would look better? Matte grey 16' s, or wait it out for the brushed golds on my black 1st gen!?
    2017-09-16_12-45-05.jpg

Also any suggestions on tire size? Currently have 33x12.5' s on 15x10's.. So wanting to stick with an option as close as possible to that wide/agressive look.. I guess 305/70/16 would be the closest.. Anyone running those? They just dont seem to give off the same vibe and next size up to 315' s look great on 16' s, but not viable. Going with a skinnier option like 285 or maybe 295's on the 16x8's seems like a better looking option.. Hmm...

I'm sure SCS is an awesome company. The wheels they make are gorgeous... That being said, I'm not going to chase my tail to get a set. I tried at 2 minutes after the hour and was only able to cart 1 wheel. Lots of other options out there that I'll probably explore and if I come across a second hand set at some point or the availability options change on the SCS site, then maybe i'll snag a set. Have fun guys!

I have to admit that I have been preoccupied with other purchases this year which helps in the fact that the longer the ray10s are out, the better a chance that the demand might one day go down a little. The being said, Im sure once I am ready to actually pull the trigger I wont be looking forward to disappointment of missing out on what I want. Props to the guys who got what they wanted.

Thank your for this because it helped put my mind at ease as I'm in agreement and have decided to follow along with this notion. I'd rather wait, think it thru some more, and ultimately be happier in the end knowing I got what I really wanted, rather than settling for only whats available or what I'm stuck choosing from If I didnt get the ones I really wanted. To me this is a big purchase and dont want any regrets. So yeah, props to those whom can buy whatever they want without any regrets, as well.

Knock on wood tho because I bet the ones I want will pop up next batch and I wont be ready for it. Lol.

Props to you man, my main reason is rear long travel is not cheap so its gonna take a few months to get it installed. I do agree though that as time goes on we can only hope demand might slowly go down. Personally, the 17 inch matte gray rays are what I want, but could also get the brushed gold if they became more available down the road. If you got any projects for the truck, might not be bad to prioritize other big upgrades first as wheels are just wheels at the end of the day and likely wont affect the trail at all. Just my opinion though.

Guys, you can also look on the SCS site for authorized retailers. It seemed that just recently members were finding the wheels they wanted at some of their local Toyota dealerships.

There's a member that posted too in one of these threads, that lives in NM that has set of new in the box for sale. He might be willing to ship them???

Personally, I was going to wait as long as it took. And too, if I was ready and had to settle for a color or style I didn't want until I could get the ones I did, I was also ready to do that, knowing full well I wouldn't have any problems selling them, even used.

    That's, just me though.

Well, I'm also doing tundra brakes and all new rear brakes. So instead of messing around with old/used/improperly fitted wheels/spacers, I've decided to shoot for some "proper" 16" wheels. And these are the only ones I've considered. So this plus the addition of tires= pretty large purchase/upgrade more so than others might consider theirs to be. Ha. But it'll all be worth it. Tired of dealing with vibes and brake issues.

Just make sure you get them set up right with the proper hoses and stuff. I got some autozone calipers and man every time I had to replace my brakes, one side was always seized. I eventually got rid of my first gen before ever figuring out the issue, but yea man tundra brakes were 2-3x better than stock with dirty5s for me.

Friends told me that the OEM calipers were worth it due to this issue.

Yeah I'm planning on getting all the goodies to go with it. I did just grab some used 16's recently for a fairly good deal. So I can at least get started on the brakes and get some tires to throw on. Even if theyre new tires (if I cant find a good used set), they'll at least transfer over to the new wheels. At that point I'll be on the lookout for them brushed golds I think. Then I can sell those other sets and get some profit back.Thats my plan anyways.
