That's perfect! Just an inch smaller, so not a big difference at all. I'm sure you'll be extremely happy with them. One thing to consider is the Cooper ST maxx though, as they're made in 255/80r17 and do extremely well in snow.

I don't blame you! That's really cheap. I got my maxx for $185 shipped to my door, which isn't too bad. Not as nice as $138 though!

I just placed my order with Headstrong for my Billies front and back and I went with the 885 since I m gonna put the the HS-TOY055-3AL in the back. First time doing a project like this and I am so pumped to get started.

Good luck! It's always nice to have a second set of hands, plus they can drive you somewhere to get a tool or part while your truck is in pieces.

Randy do you know of a shop list for tools need to complete this project? Has anyone put that together yet if not I might.

Technically all you need is a set of metric wrenches and a tire iron.

I'm sure someone has, but here's what I'd have on hand

    • Floor Jack
    • Jack stands
    • metric sockets
    • ratchet
    • breaker bar
    • Set of metric open ended wrenchs, going up to 19mm I believe
    • 5mm open end wrench*
    • Allen key (spacing on the size)**
    • medium sized C clamps***
    • Torque wrench

*For removal of the rear shock. It keeps the shock shaft from spinning. If you're going to throw away your old suspension like me, I took an angle grinder to the shock shaft, made two flat spots, and held it that way

**For keeping the shaft from spinning on the rear 5100s

***For disassembling the leafs to install an AAL

    I think that's it.

Thanks I think I have all of that covered. How many clamps do you think 3?

Here is a did bit of info for you, lift does not make a tire fit unless your talking 4+ inches and you don't wheel your truck, even people fitting 35s have to do the same amount of trimming due to the wheel stuffing into the wheel well when soaking up bumps or articulating. Even aftermarket springs and shocks still compress as much as the factory ones do when under load, this pick is when i was on 265/70/17 on 885s not even at full compression just for reference downloadfile-8.jpg downloadfile-7.jpgAnd at normal height

Only pics I have left on 265s

So you are saying that your 265/70/17 on a 2-3" lift are still rubbing when stuffed? Do you have LR UCA's? I think I'm gonna run 255/75/17 anyway. Thanks for the info, great looking truck!

Thanks, With 265/70/17 Or 265/75/16 you won't rub, unless your caster was in the negative, just the point that when stuffed you truck is lower than stock height so lift doesnt play a role in tire size unless your tires never make it back to stock height.(which would be in cases of a much bigger lift than 2-3").you will be fine with the 255

I have 265/70/17 on billies 5100+888 and dakkar leaf pack. No UCA at the moment.
What size tire can I go up without rubbing or having issues?
What size tires can I go up keeping in mind I will add UCA in the future?

Your best bet is 255/80r17 or 255/75r17 on stock wheels. Rubbing issues stem from the width of the tire, or the tire getting pushed outwards by aftermarket wheels. You may rub a little, but not much.

I can't comment for sure. What I do know for sure though is that aside from the size you're running now, the 255/80r17 will give you the least amount of problems with regards to cutting and trimming.

Got my 5100 front & rear. Waiting for the OME 2885 springs before installing. Also got new top bushings and top hat mounting brackets for fronts. New cam bolts on order. On the rear I have Firestone Ride Rite and am going to order some sort of 1.5" add a leaf.
After 265,000 miles my 2005 OEM SR5 suspension is getting pretty tired.

Forgot to add that I also have the Recall leaf springs. Looking forward to the new ride. :)
