Hmmmm - I don't think that will work in my case. the switch would be 'on' all the time no? I want it to come on only with the ignition. I think that's why everyone says to tap into the tail fuse.
I guess I can just leave the cover off inside the cab.

I also have the A.O.B. OEM style switch. I have a blank on the panel next to the qi charging button. I think I know what I need to do, just don't know where or quite HOW to tap into the fuse panel. Im taking this one slow so I don't f*** it up. Does anyone know what amp fuse I should use? This would be for the lighted switch.

Little shelf I made to hold my inline fuse and switch for the hood lights. Just temporary fitting to see how it'll be. Guna get it all nice and then spray it then install it after

What size bolt did you use for those holes? For some reason I can't seem to get the right one...

I didn't have luck with either of these, or testing others with he Fluke meter. No problem getting the wire into the fuse box. I just don't like to leave a 300w light bar live when the ignition is off. It's too easy for the switch to be pushed by accident by a kid or valet or my knee. My preference would be a fuse that is only live when the ignition and some lights are on.

So, it seems that the best ( only ) option is to tap into the tail light fuse under the driver's kick panel. yes? For now I'm going to leave it but I have it wired if I ever decide to hook it up.
Also - the Caliraised light bar came with a 30A inline fuse wired into the harness. That seems like overkill to me no? I swapped it for a 20A and it didn't blow. Is there any reason why this is a bad idea? OR... should I go even smaller? Thanks everyone for your help (knowledge, schematics, drawings, photos, input...)

My light bar IS live even when the truck is off. Is that a bad thing?

hoping to get my 32 bar this week and install on Friday if I can,i think after reading on it that I don't want the switch to light up unless its on,cant dim it so that will bother me.want it to be keyed power in case it gets turned on so it wont leave me dead somewhere.

This sounds perfect to me, I would rather avoid the add a fuse altogether as well.

Any downside to this at all?

Does anyone know if this issue ever got resolved with the schematic and instructions from ch4x4 being incorrect? I've gone through this thread a couple times. Looked at every schematic and I still cant get my lights to work. Right now, I just have them fused via fuse tap in the interior fuse panel and on a regular toggle switch. I was excited to put in my new ch4x4 switch but they don't help out at all. All of the help in this thread is great but my brain is starting to smoke and Im ready to smash this switch and send it back to those idiots. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ok, so my wiring harness from nilight only has a white wire coming into the cab, no ther wires are present. How to wire this up to a mictuning push switch?

    Ok, from my playing around.

    1-Green/yellow= power from 12v source
    2- Red/yellow1 = ditch light symbol
    3 Red/yellow 2 = "ditch light" letters
    4- Ground

1 is power, 4 ground hooked up.

switch off, (not depressed) no illumination. UNLESS you were to wire pin 2 to an illumination (interior lights etc) , then you get the picture when the lights are on.

switch depressed, "ditch light picture" lights up, NO illumination from the letters. (just pins 1 and 4) 12v

switch depressed, both pin 2 and 3 are connected (combined out to relay coil +) ALL light up

i ended up attaching the pin 3 (ditch lights lettering) to the green wire from the dome light switch near by so when the lights come on, the lettering lights up like the rest of the stock switches.

i used Pin 2 to activate the relay to turn on the lights.
