I'm rebuilding a set of Icon 56503 2" VS Series shocks for 0-2 1/2" lift. I tried to find specs for them online, nothing. Since your one of the shops that they have listed as an approved service center I'm coming to you for info if Icon thinks it's ok.

Question 1. What depth do set the IFP at inside the shock body?

Question 2. What level do set the oil at after the IFP is installed?

I have all the hand tools required and have put together a nitrogen charging set up for the shocks. Thanks for any help you can provide. If your unable to release the info I'll understand.

    Thanks,
    Eric

I'm not with dsm, but today I just finished rebuilding my front icon coilovers. I had the exact same questions as you. If you haven't tried yet call icon, they answered all of my questions.
The quick explanation is you set the ifp with the shaft of the shock to where the shaft would not contact the ifp if it bottomed out.
For oil you fill to about a 1/2in below the snap ring groove, insert shaft, then press it into the shock body and it will displace what oil is not needed.
Here's a few pages that helped me out.
They are not icon rear shocks specifically, but the principle is the same. Such as setting the ifp depth and how to get the correct amount of oil.

This one is long but very thorough. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/icon-shock-rebuild.414996/

This one is straight forward and has some good tips If you have any more questions let me know, I have more links.
    Happy rebuilding

Thanks for the response. I've already read through those links and have watched a number of videos on rebuilding. Plenty of info for Fox and King shocks with little to none for Icon. Seems like they want to keep their info a secret or don't think that the people that buy their products are willing to rebuild them on their own. Your tip for the ifp and oil level are spot on with what I have gathered from my research. Thanks again for the info and I guess I'll get off my ass and call Icon for the specs.

I know this is a little old but how did it go!? Did you get them rebuilt? About how long do you think it takes? Thinking of doing this myself of just selling my icons and buying an OME kit since the cost of paying someone to rebuild is a little pricy to me.

I only had to rebuild one rear shock so far. It was leaking pretty bad and was a easy learning experience compared to the front. The rebuild took maybe 10 minutes to complete. It was very easy to rebuild. I called ICON for the oil refill specs. They answered the phone quickly and answered all the questions I had. I purchased the Oil from Amazon and purchased my own nitrogen tank for the refill.

I have a rear ICON II shock leaking.

Where can I get the seals etc for the rebuild?

What fitting do I need to fill the nitrogen on the shock?

I already have a nitrogen tank from my beer making days. I'd like to try doing this myself to avoid too much downtime. Thanks

I found two places both quoted me around $425 to rebuild all 4 corners .... pretty reasonable to not have to get messy and shell out big bucks for a new set, probably gonna have them only do my fronts and I’m gonna take care of the rears myself. I took some various grit sandpaper to the shock bodies and they look new! Will post an new thread on the rebuild. Here are the links to the two shops I found, also the shock guy on here in Colorado who’s even more reasonable in pricing
