Oh geez, it almost sounds like you grew up with my dad and paternal grandfather. My grandfather owned a large trucking company and my dad was in the business too. They knew everything about cars and trucks and made me start turning wrenches when I was as about 5 years old. Whenever someone in the family got a new car my dad and papa would walk around the car and find every single flaw and misaligned panel on it. They would do the same to the interior and then tell whoever the poor would was about all the issues to expect mechanically. Then they would walk off and say nothing nice car but that color will fade out on you. I hated showing them new cars!

    I feel you on this.

If I had bought this truck used I would just fix it. Like I've done with all my other vehicles I've owned.

Because this truck is new. Brand stinking new so I have some quality control issues that I'd like Toyota to address.

If they don't then I'll take a stab at it.

This is my first brand new car and I like everything about it but this ringing noise coming from somewhere at 55mph.

Also it's the first time I've ever had a warrenty so until it ends I plan on using it if I need it.

I was part of this. I had almost forgotten about keeping every receipt, checking fuel quality, finding high turn over diesel pumps, then ultimately installing my own preventative filter system that didn't starve the hpfp. I was hoping that was going to stay buried in the deep recesses...

They are a great community over there. I agree, we should learn a lesson from them.

You are aware the rear driveshaft is a 2 piece with a carrier bearing. People often go with a one piece Tom woods and get rid of the carrier bearing. You clearly don't know anything about these trucks haha. I would hate someone working on my truck that has as much misinformation as you. BTW the noise ruins the trucks resale and is downright horrible to drive even if it would last forever sounding like shit.

My 4runner has a one piece and the rear differential has bearings on the carrier assemble within the rear axle.

Toyota can't engineer a quiet differential with 13 years to do it? Weird

Not likely, but my '04 Tacoma has all that... minus the 8.75" ring gear... it's a tad smaller. It also has 250K fairly abusive miles on it and it doesn't make a peep.

True. Separate issues, but both related somewhat.

Yes. The gen 2s with the resale value every one brags about had a tsb issued to deal with the ...

I'm still waiting for the Rock solid resale values of those second gen trucks to plummet....got an idea when that will be?

Did listen to it in a co- workers truck. He was completely unaware he had it. Not that loud and I had to tune my ear to it, but I heard it.

    Understood.

Toyota still released a tsb covering whining diffs for the 2005 to 2013 tacomas. On this forum, the issue was also reported in 2014 and 2015 trucks.

Well it's Thursday! Truck is still in the air. Service told me they are still waiting on the rep to release the part.

Some one said that the dealer held their truck hostage!!! Lol. Now I know what they were talking about. My daily appearance at the dealer is done. Off to work....
