That seems to be the gist of what I've read, some say anything 2+" you need the drop, some say screw it it's useless. So really just keeping an eye on the CVs if I notice issues. I've seen where people are swapping out the bearing for the clamshell bushing that ECGS is making?

Yeah, the ECGS bearing seems to be the best bet if your clamshell bearing from the factory starts giving you problems.

When I lifted my front with just 5100s @ 1.75 I got the diff vibrations. My dealer replaced it under warranty and I haven't had an issue since. I even went up with 887 coils and no vibes. I'll eventually swap mine to East Coast Gear Supplies, but right now it's a "If it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality for me.

Any suggestions on mounting the reservoirs to the shock body? How much can I bend the connecting line without causing excess pressure?

Also, mine didn't come with extra bushing for the lower shock mount. Maybe they are shipping the correct bushing with them now?

    Edit:

I saw where (the other) Chase mounted his. My line is pretty stiff so the only way to mount them would be to force the line and position the reservoirs, then add the clamps. Will this cause the reservoir mounts to scratch the shock and reservoir bodies if not tightened all the way down? I'm guessing the line is heavy duty, but I don't want to start twisting and bending it around during the install to have a malfunction.

Looks like the are sending them with the right bushing. Guess the guy I called at FOX made a memo!!!! I literally called to let them know. Had totally forgot, baha.

And mine were just as stiff. Put them where I have them in my opinion. Took two people to hold them in place. Got them hand tight with 6" of leverage or so. Aluminum is shiny, throw an LED on them when you get tight and tighten them hand tight. Those things are thick, so it's unlikely, but if you see any compression in the light, you know you've gone too far. Bottom line is that I watched, got them dang tight, and zero problems then and since. My position clears everything. I wanted them high to avoid sticks/branches/etc.

As for the drops, exnay for sure. I've helped install them on multiple Tacos for a dealership and have seen the geometry etc. They effectively tilt, thus dropping. Everything is designed to sit where it is. Extend the boot for sure if you drive in 4x4 a lot (the north & snowy roads) If only in 4x4 when wheeling, leave the boot. If you do get pressure on it, the extra rubber will give the boot more flex.
The cv angle is what it is. If mainly road driving with occasional wheeling, 3" should be fine. Flex the crap out of everything wheeling/jumping, i.e. Doing crap you prob shouldn't, then go with ~2.25" (which is where I would be if had gone up 3 full turns on the driver's, ugh lol).

So what's the difference between the factory, performance, and adventure series shocks? Are factory all 2.5?

Yep, that's what I was referring to. I wonder if it's possible to rotate the "L" connector on the shock body so that the line is not shooting straight down. This would help get them into position a little better.

The 2.0s are aluminum, the 2.5s are steel and larger capacity.

This is the "L" connector I'm referring to. If it could be rotated 45° to toward the frame, or away from the frame, I think I can get the reservoir mounted higher on the shock body. It would also keep the Fox logos in line... My OCD is kicking in thinking the logos wouldn't be lined up.

In my research looking into this kit you can adjust that bottom lock nut and the 90 if you have the leftover thread space. Make small adjustments and if you don't have the tread, don't force it. This is just what I've heard.

I see threads on both shock bodies. I'm trying to visualize them on the truck, and I think you would need to "loosen" on side to point it away from the frame but tighten the opposite to achieve the same angle. I called Fox and left a message. Those West Coast peeps aren't at work yet. :D

Let me know what you hear. I'm curious to see what they themselves have to say. Did you order yours straight from Fox? I think when I eventually pull the trigger I'm going to get a full kit (2.0's Front and back) from Headstrong. Apparently you still have to ask about the correct bushing though...

Chase the OP talked about how the bushing on these is actually the incorrect size and has to be punched out and replaced with one that they sometimes provide in order to mount properly.

So Fox does not have the correct bushing size if requested?

Beats me, I've just been doing my research since this is the setup I'll eventually get. You can get it but I don't know if it comes standard with the bushing that fits the tacoma fro some reason

My rear shocks came through the Fox GB on here. But, I think they were dropped shipped directly from Fox. No extra bushing was provided.

Just got off the phone with Fox.

As far as mounting the reservoir and turning that fitting, they recommended to not do it. If you want to turn that fitting, you run the risk of decmpressing the shock and then you will need them be re-pressurized with nitrogen. They said most automotive shops will do this for pretty cheap and it does NOT void the Fox warranty.

As far as the bushing. The 0-1.5 in Shocks are manufactured only for the Tacoma and are direct replacement. No swapping of bushings is needed for the lower shock mount. If you get the 2-3in shocks, they are designed for the 4runner which does use a larger bushing. So if you order those shocks, you will need to do the swap but the bushing is included from Fox.
