When you connect it to 208V does it think you're using 120V or 240V? Curious why you're not using 120V, which you get with a 208V Y-connected leg against its neutral (if it's not delta and you have one). If you need the full power from the TIG 200 then you'd need a real 240V circuit I'd think. It may be killing them because it thinks you have 240V and the IGBTs aren't being driven to completely turn off. It could also be just a weakness in the design (which is troubling since I have the same machine). BTW, there's about 25% less power in a 208V circuit compared to a 240V.

We just install the new Power Modules for Lincoln I think we get $200.00 a machine.

They come to us after they have been replaced

People seem to buy them for a Cheap Field Tig welder why Cheap

Drag it to different plants no idea of the voltage .

No Tig 200`s yet but it is only a matter of time till someone plugs it into 460VAC

It is not that I don`t Like China Products it is the complete lack of Tech Support and Parts

Since We don`t see these machines I don`t get a chance to test drive them.

Looking for a quality USA made gear driven drill press. Been looking at Dake, Ellis, Baileigh. Anyone have any input ? Realistically only need to drill up to one inch holes in thick plates, and not daily. 220 single phase machine.

Finally got to play with my new roll bender. I have to roll 12 21' 2" schedual 40 pipes to make 4 92' circles. Got 5 done today, my goal tomorrow is to finish the rest. They have to be perfect radius's to each other and form the circle exactly. Wish me luck.IMG_2553.jpg

Interesting. I've been looking into using one to bend aluminum pipe for small boat gunnels. Please show more when you have time.

    Thanks

Didn't really take any other pics of material when finished. Aluminum requires nylon does. The hardes part with a manual machine is duplicating the exact same radius on multiple pieces. I am getting the hang of it. I was also running 21' material, this is not the norm. The bender was expensive, but will pay for itself in a few jobs.

My dads shop burned down a couple months ago. Lost literally everything. Even the electrical plugs. So all that's left is a cement slab

Decided to build a racetruck while waiting on the old man to rebuild the shop and get electrical again so we can buy another welding machine.

Decided to borrow a gay 110 welder to make some engine mounts

Cranked that bitch all the way up to weld on some 1/4 lol.

Wasn't smooth and not all the welds came out this good buttt I got a few good ones lol

    Not bad. Color me impressed.

I so want to try out the new HF Vulcan machines. They are not in the same category of the original Chicago Electric craptastic welders.

I don't do a lot of aluminum MIG welding. Mostly iron.

Feel free to critique my welds. Does it look like excessive soot around my welds?

I have done zero mig al welding but i think i saw where u should keep the trigger slightly depressed at the end, enough for gas to continue to flow but the wire stops. Something something, aluminium solidifies differently than steel and the gas flow somethin something more.

Depends on just how long the Aluminum has been exposed to the world .

The older it is the worse it gets .

Sounds good. From the little I've been reading in the last hour, it sounds like soot us unavoidable, but can be reduced some. It also hurts nothing.

That's excessive IMO. Make sure your shielding gas (are you using 100% argon?) is working and has plenty of flow (like 35 CFH) and make sure to push rather than drag with a short arc. The smut is due to the magnesium, either in the electrode (5356 is high in Mg, which I assume you're using) or the base metal, combining with available oxides. You can try 4043 wire, that might reduce soot, 4043 doesn't have magnesium.
