Somebody will buy it! Good deal or not. And the sales people know it. My dealer keeps trying to buy my 15 back. They sell themselves.

I have 74K on my 2011. That seems like a lot of miles.

I paid ~$21k out the door for 2007, ~57,500 miles back in April, in Colorado, for a reference.

So you just never try then? You one of those that is always willing to pay book value cause it’s fair. Lol

Blah blah blah, the KBB says this, online research says this, blah blah blah..... screw all that. So how do you negotiate? You start from a fair value and negotiate from that?lol

You do know what negotiating is right? It’s not what something is worth, it’s what you can leverage.....

When I bought my '11 TX Pro, MT, with 60k, this past Dec it was listed for 25,000. I took it home for 21,000. I also got them to give me 5000 for my trade, their original offer was 3500. This was at a Toyota dealership. There is always wiggle room. Just go in there knowing what you want and what you are willing to pay, don't take "No" for an answer and be willing to spend some time making the right deal...

I'd offer trade-in as a starting point. They will sell the truck, if not to you, someone else will pay it. You have to ask yourself if this is EXACTLY what you are looking for. Color, options etc. Sometimes paying a little more for exactly what you want is actually a bargain.

I have no idea why people obsess about mileage on vehicles.

Higher mileage vehicles are usually cared for better and have less likelyhood of having mechanical problems.

Now I would understand shying away from a vehicle a couple years old with 200-300k miles on it but not a vehicle with 30k a yearish.

Probably was cared for and in better condition than something with 8 per year.

Reason I say that is I put a lot of miles on my trucks, which means I hit my mileage markers quicker for maintinence. My oil doesn't sit in the truck for a year, my diff and transfer case bolts don't corrode on, my filters get changed consistantly, my fluids don't sit in the truck for a decade without replacement etc.

A lot of benefits to a higher mileage vehicle where you can tell the miles are mostly highway.

15K is a clown number, but then again, after a reading a few of your posts, kinda makes sense why YOU would start there. Do you suggest the OP dress up like a clown when he goes in and offers 15K for the truck?

Remember they start high. So they can tell you they are giving you $x for your clap trap trade in and make you feel fuzzy.

Cash and carry rules. Especially on a used vehicle that has 2x average miles for the year.

If you finance, go in ready from your CU or something so financing isn't part of the issue.

If you have a vehicle to dispose of, do it on your own.

Maybe he should just carry a sign that says “sucker” when he goes into the dealer and take your approach.

I believe you can do better in price on that one but keep looking as I believe you will find one similar with less than 50k miles.

Yes, it is a taco so mileage is relative but if you are in that price range you can do better.

Looking forward to seeing your new taco when you find it!

OP, have you looked at toyota certified website to compare prices? Every region will be different, in my area there are several for that price but they all have lower miles, below 50,000 for $26 to $28 thousand.

Toyota Certified does however mean that all TSBs, recalls, etc. have been applied. My '09 was TC when I bought it and had new headlights, rear springs, driveshafts/center bearing, and the latest engine and tranny firmware updates; and new tires to boot.

I have driven it 6500 completely 100% trouble-free miles over the last 11 months--there are many 2016 and 2017 owners that did not get that far on brand new trucks...

Thanks for all the advice.I have decided to definitely back off and wait to see what pops up with lower mileage and hopefully a little cheaper
