so I got the salex center console organizer from Amazon. Does anyone know why there are notches cut out of one side of it?

By the way, it’s nice. A great storage solution, but I’m at a loss as to the purpose of the cutouts.

I got one in 2015, but don't have the notches. All my pieces are solid all the way.

I wasn’t looking for anything. I got the one for the 2005-2015 Tacoma’s and it’s got cut outs like in the pic I posted.

I was just letting you know I found 2 versions if you didn’t like that one for whatever reason. One made by Salex without notches and another made by someone else with notches. Both for 2005-2015 Tacoma’s. It appears you got the one made by someone else.

Oh, gotcha. Thanks. Yep the salex has notches. You just don’t see them on the bottom of the back side in that photo.

Ah I see, my mistake! They do seem out of place though.

They definitely end up on the bottom. But they can end up on either side. If you place them on the passenger side, the two outermost cutouts become a non issue. The one in the middle, though, does “connect the two middle compartments.

If you put them on the driver side, there’s a “tunnel” from the front of the compartment to the back. A marble, for example could roll though all the compartments on that side. Not that I keep marbles in my console.

WOW! This organizer has been out for five years and the notches have always been there but are rarely mentioned. Both the Salex Organizer and the Chinese imposter's version have the notches because the sleazy imposter copied it exactly. The purpose of the notches was mentioned a while back. "The cut out corners are the only way I could get the short pieces spread out far enough to fit CDs as shown in the location in my picture. The tub has angled sides that was the compromise to keep the material thick and the whole grid sturdy. Once installed the walls of the tub fill in the notches (if they face the passenger side)."

Sorry for the slow response, I haven't been seeing notifications in my email but PM is working.

As long as I have your attention on the Gen2 Tacoma.... have you seen the new Vehicle OCD™ tray that hangs from the top edge of the console? And the glove box organizer?

Thanks for your response! I can understand your reasoning now as I look at the angles in the compartment. Btw I love the organizers. Fit and quality is great.

Yeah I did see the top tray. I’m gonna pass, as I don’t want to lift it out all the time to Access things underneath. I do appreciate the utility of the design, though. Nice work.

FYI guys— the glove box one is awesome. The pieces are dovetailed and it’s super sturdy in the glove box. It comes with two Velcro stick-on strips on the bottom so it doesn’t budge once in place. Very happy with it.
