I did the opposite and installed the tweeters first, really like the highs now. I will install the speakers this weekend. Let me ask as I have other folk, did you have any rattles? Did you use any sound deadening material?

Installed the tweeters today! Aside from having to tear the whole dash apart due to dropping my wrench in the tweeter hole..... grrrr. Nice upgrade from stock! I ordered the cheap DS series kicker speakers (6x9 and 6 3/4) I hope to recieve tomorrow and install. Seemed most didnt notice much of an uprade on the door speakers but I'm sure they will sound a little better than stock and both cost less than the tweeters.

I'm not audiophile by any means but intial thoughts are that this is a definitely an improvement. I say initial because I only have one installed. I did this in the parking lot while my 5 year is in dance:rofl:. My socket set was missing 1 socket. Yep, the 10mm. Couldn't get the passenger a pillar off. Oh well 20 more minutes of dance.

I would also like recommendations on if I should add sound deadening. thanks @IndyFastlane . I can definitely tell a difference. this has pushed me into purchasing the kicker speakers as well. Hopefully the speakers recommended by @bshammer0 will be as good of an improvement.

Yes - but $137.94 is price in Canadian dollars. $90 US = approximately $112 CAD, and usually eBay shipping from US is ridiculously expensive + usually brokerage & import charges apply. Cheaper for Canadians to buy in Canada versus importing.

oh no. now I just saw this. I was looking at the Kicker 43CSC6934. would a two way be better. Besides that this has a 1" tweeter vs a 1/2 of the one I'm looking at. Also this is an additional $20

Ordered tweeters Monday night, got them today and installed. The speakers that were in there are not what I would call a real tweeter, just a small cheap speaker. The Kicker tweeter sounds great, the clarity makes a huge difference in the overall sound from the stereo. I think door speakers will soon be added also. If they add the improvement the tweeters added this will be an awesome sounding stereo.
Anybody that is on the fence about the Kicker tweeters, Do It!

    Thanks again @IndyFastlane

I got my tweeters from a local Subaru dealer for $88, they price matched eBay.

just did the whole upgrade, tweeters & all 4 door speakers -- $250 all in and about 3 hours total on install, going nice and slow and not wanting to mess anything up.

as others have said, well worth the time and money, and a lot of bang for those bucks.

also, as others have said, the flimsiness of the stock door speakers truly is LOL-pathetic.

Congrats, just received the rest of the stuff i ordered and will be doing my install soon. I am adding the Noico sound deadening material in doors as well as upgrading all 6 speakers .. i am excited to hear the difference in sound.

To get back to what you said, they may be flimsy etc but i am amazed they sound as good as they do for lightweight flimsy pathetic speakers

Hey, for the guys that replaced the tweeters. I got my kicker tweeters the other day and saw where you have to take the bolts out on the pillars, the airbag runs in there. Did you guys have to disconnect the battery so the airbag doesn't deploy when getting at the bolts? Sorry for the noob question, it's my first time doing it lol.

Nope. My first time removing the A pillar trim and it was pretty straight forward. I just made sure not to yank on anything.

Thanks for the reply. I literally just finished up like an hour ago lol. It went really well, super easy and just disconnected the negative to be safe. I’m amazed with the sound from those kicker tweeters. I saw all the posts saying it but damn, it really is a huge improvement!

I installed my new tweeters this morning, i really was surprised how easy it was. It took me 25-minutes to do both sides, my 10mm gearwrench came in handy to get to the tweeter bolts (especially one closest to windshield)
Next week i am installing the 6x9 and 6.75 Kickers in front/rear plus adding some Noico sound deadening material on the doors.

DS series were what I thought, If they did improve the sound it wasnt noticable! The only thing I notice is the highs sound better, which the tweeter upgrade did. But if you want an extra 15HP and know you got better built speaker than the stock crap in the door, DO IT! :)
