Did a fair amount of climbing in the 70's and 80's, seems every summer there was a rockfall somewhere(the valley, lovers leap, or the meadows/high country) sometimes with tragic results. Granite seems so enduring but every winter snow accumulates in the cracks and crevices freezing and expanding house size slabs free of the face. No warning and no chance of evasion, if you're there you're simply sol. Most of the classic climbs follow cracks and use these huge slabs for purchase along the route. I feel for those affected and any who witnessed the event.

Any other climbers out there? What are/were you're favorite routes?

I mostly bouldered besides being a gym rat, but I've sport climbed in the grotto, and Owens River gorge. Need to get back into it, but I lost all my climbing buddies. Also gyms in the bay are too fucking expensive now. PG can eat their own ass the greedy bastards.

Ive climbed a lot in the SE, mostly Horse Pens 40. When we got to Yose, a friend set us (husband and I) to climb 3 pitches near Dawn Wall and stay over night on a portaledge (anniversary present). It was an amazing climb and took everything I had in me to make it. I'm not a climber by any means but I sure admire those that are!
