Also, I hate you OP! Just ordered my speakers, was originally going to wait a few weeks but I was able to save $17 by buying open box speakers. Can't wait to hear the difference, if the tweeters are a good gauge of comparison.

Has any one put in the system (tweeters and door speakers) with the alpine power pack (linked below) installed also?

    https://www.amazon.com/Alpine-KTP-445U-4-channel-Power-Amplifier/dp/B003VVYL46

I added this into my truck instead of messing with the speakers but everyone is making it sound like the speakers are a must change. I just want to make sure itll be ok to change the speakers to get the improvement that everyone is talking about with the addition of my amp

I'm no expert, but I can't imagine it not sounding incredible. Those door speakers are a joke. If the amp improved your sound I can only imagine you're still missing out on a ton of mid/treble and clearer bass... I don't see how you wouldn't come out ahead but if you go for it please let us know how it works out!

I may give it a shot. Bare with me cuz im only 6 pages into this thread and probably wont get to reading all 30 pages but can you confirm everything for me. I didnt have much luck changing speakers in my BMW last time so Im slightly weary but I think I want to try this cuz you make it sound straight forward. The speakers you listed in the first message are essentially plug and play? And while I have the door panels off its a good chance to add a bunch of sound deadening. Does that all sound correct?

Didn't read the 30 pages of post but wanted to change speakers out 2 years ago.
Is the entune HU capable of making say kicker speakers sound that much better without adding an amp?
What would be the best budget amp just for 2-6.5 2-6x9 and tweeters?

butyl works by dampening the vibrations in the sheet metal.... it wouldn't do much on the plastic vents

Make sure to check out the OEM AUDIO video posted somewhere in the first 10 pages. It helped me a lot.

Yes. Unlike stock OEM head units in my prior vehicles, the entune head unit has enough juice to power the aftermarket speakers nicely.

Not sure about your amp question.

The tweeters are completely plug and play. The door speakers when ordered from Crutchfield for example, ship with the mounts and adapters you need to install the speakers in the doors. There is no wiring to mess with, just connect the adapter to the connector where the stock speaker connected, then slide on a + and - connector to the speakers. Angle screws to get the speakers on the mounts nice and tight and you're all set. Several folks have done this successfully... only thing some people have commented on is to be very careful with the lock/door handle mechanisms. nothing too hard about it. If you pick up the stuff in the OP and add the Noico sound deadening you'll be all set.

Doing my install now and I have read this entire thread. One thing about the sound deadening. I saw where I should take off the cloth. Is it ok to leave the plastic? Any other tips. I'm new to this. Thanks

If you're putting the deadening where the plastic was with no breaks that weren't there already where the plastic is, just leave it off. It's redundant functionality at that point.

I have a similar speaker setup (kicker tweeters and component speakers) in my 2nd gen. I installed the alpine power pack and it makes these speakers incredibly loud and clear. I have an 8" sub to take care of the low end and the Alpine speaker amp really gave everything new life.

Forget the speakers and throw in some subs!! Helps drown out all the other flaws in your system while alerting other drivers that you are nearby. Worked great for me. I managed to fit these in my first Gen ext cab, and who needs space back there anyways, right? IMG_0382.jpgIMG_0383.jpg

folks have done this every way - I personally ripped off the cloth and threw it away and just put the deadening on OVER the plastic that was there. worked just fine and did the job intended. others have been more industrious and went for a "cleaner" look and install by pulling away the plastic and cloth and then adhering back on top of the sound deadening material. No "right" way - just get it on the doors and behind the speakers however you can and roll it out and you'll be fine!

I'm not sure anyone has honestly - but if you do, please report back. I've seen some SR5 questions come across but I haven't been able to answer/help. You could always try it out as a relatively inexpensive experiment, can't imagine it would sound BAD, then if you deem necessary there are some inexpensive amp options that have been mentioned as well.

Nah - pretty straight forward. be careful with your door / lock cables, break the clips off in the middle of the mounts, but all wiring is straightforward. same as the front. let us know if you need help though as you get into it. several of us been through this now successfully so we're here to help

I finally got it. forgot how the stocks one were wired out front. after I sound proofed everthhing I was trying to find a hole to stick the wiring through. after doing the fronts I realized my mistake and saw the hole on the new mounts. just broke the tab and fed it through there. everything just got finished. will be testing shortly.
