Anytime. Considering your build has been an inspiration for years now, including reinforcement of my desire to move to Arizona, it's the least I could do.

Your Tacoma is far from "meh".

Moving to Arizona has been a long standing dream of mine since the first time I visited. Have always loved the desert. That being said, Texas is the capital of my industry, has an amazing economy, and it's my birthplace. So it's a tough spot to be in.

How'd you do on the sand drags?

Thanks man. It's amazing here. Same for me.. I live the desert.. I soend as much time as I possibly can out there.. Az has so much to offer on top of that too. But, I don't blame you for wanting to stick to your stomping grounds.

Ended up 9-1. The loss was expected.. called out the biggest, baddest Diesel there was after not much competition. Lol. He didn't walk me tho. I made him work for it. There's videos of everything from others, so I gotta gather all that and post it. Overall.. was super happy. The gears plus the removal of the tent and rack made for a Quick and Hard launch.. loving it!

Lol! Yeah yeah. I know.. but I picked up my blower used.. and had it installed after the fact.. so it's not exactly text book. Even my coolant hoses are routed differently than most. So no stickers for me...

The big question Is WHY are they snapping? Could it have been a bad batch of metal used for the tensioner arms that some people just got unlucky with. A failing belt which is causing issues somehow or is it something worse?

    Couple of footnotes here.

    - It is indefinite that removing the charcoal filter alone in the stock air cleaner box will net you a small gain in power as it is a secondary restriction before the blower. That being said, the stock airbox as a whole is a restriction within the setup. Switching out the assembly alone to a well built aftermarket intake setup, will net you 1-1.5 psi gains on the blower alone.

    - Members relying solely on the tensioner to pick up the additional belt slack after installing a smaller pulley even a 2.85 are doing things entirely incorrect. I was one of those also admittedly. The correct way to do a pulley swap is to go shorter on the belt. A Dayco PK1765 belt will do just fine for all switching to a smaller pulley. It even worked for my 2.5 pulley.

I am wondering if switching from the Dayco Poly Cog belt to the Gates racing belt then modifying it to fit 5 rib would pick up any boost. I would assume not as the belt construction material of Aramid is the same in both the Dayco Poly Cog belt and the Gates Racing belt.

That pulley coating service that OP posted seems like an interesting endeavor, however. Even for me. ;)

    So get a Dayco pk1765 for a 2.85 pulley?

I would knowing what I know now. It will be difficult to put on but it will work WAY better than the stock size belt which is 70.5" I believe. Shorter belt size is 69.5".

Correct. I was running the shorter Dayco belt when my tensioner snapped. I chalk it up to poor manufacturing standards of the cast aluminum.. I'm looking into an aftermarket solution now. Then I'll switch back to the shorter belt, as I currently have the Toyota blower belt on for now just to avoid any other failures..

Lol. Wish it was that easy! I reached out to a company who machines them from solid aluminum.

@12TRDTacoma do you have to take off the tensioner arm to get the belt on?

Yes you do unfortunately. There is no easy way around it short of taking it off. Routing the belt is another fun process on your own also.
