I am looking for suggestions for AFR wideband sensor locations in the Stock 4x4 Y-pipe.
I attached pictures of proposed locations

The (3) locations I have come up with are:
    Location 1:
Passenger side next to regular O2 sensor
    Con: close to frame rail

    Location 2"
    Y pipe merge
    Con: O2 harness extension
    Readings off 0.2-0.4
    O2 sensor not at 10 or 2 O'clock

    Location 3:
    Just before Y pipe merge
    Con: O2 harness extension
    Readings off 0.2-0.4
    Additional heat from passenger pipe

Mine is in after the merge. I choose the merge. As you get all cylinders.

    curious as well.....

Im not understanding why after the merge and not biased to one side (passenger side). More accurate reading correct?

I did one on each side, but not many people see the benefit of doing that since it’s double the cost.

If you’re just doing one, do it after the merge. Like @Torspd said, that way you get all cylinders.

How come its important to get readings from all cylinders? Assuming all is running normally, would one side of the engine block be running differently than the other?

If you’re only reading one bank, and the other bank is running lean, you will never know because the other side isn’t being measured.

If you’re after the merge, you get the sum of both banks. In that scenario, if one back is running lean, you’ll at least be able to see it. You won’t necessarily know where the problem is, but you’ll at least have some warning.

Mine has one on each bank, so if one bank is lean I know which side it is.

One on each cylinder would be the ultimate in accuracy but being too close to the head is too hot for those sensors. They really need to be further downstream so they don’t die prematurely due to heat.
