First of all...keep your eye on the ball Daniel son. Always follow through with your swing..never stop part way, think of it as doing a chick, Do you only put it in a little?? No, you put it in ALL the way! Relax, Have fun, drink lots of beer. Also try playing hung over, I play my best golf after a night of getting shit faced. Your relaxed and dont give a shit cuz you want to throw up.. Follow those tips and you too will be shooting 70's! :D:D

One big thing. Dont go spending a fortune on your first set of clubs. just find a decent set, and later if you get better then go all out. all you need is Irons and a nice driver.

My dad is a Golf Course Superintendent and my grandpa works at a golf course in NW Arkansas. I have also worked at a golf course for many years and have lived next to a golf course for most of my life. I have played golf since I was 3 years old.

The single, most important rule is:
Leave the course in better shape than when you started.

    This means a few things:
    -Replace divots
-Repair ball marks on the greens (not just yours)
    -Heed course rules

Overall, respect the course, especially the green. The green is where money is lost or won, deals are made or broken, and where dreams can come true.

I was going to tell you to try and not get hit with the ball, either your own or by someone elses because it hurts, but I just saw your pics in TW Live....So lesson learned!

Definately a fun game. Just remember its definately a game. My only tip would be dont be the guy who gets so mad he throws his clubs and throws a bitch fit after mis-hitting the ball. It sucks playing golf with those people and they're usually not that good anyway.(not that I'm a good golfer either)

It is definately a great way to meet professionals/develop professional relationships like your co-worker said. I met my last 2 employers playing golf and even a GC in a scramble I was in and invited him to bid on our office remodel and he ended up having the best bid.

yeah i dont think i could play with someone that gets mad at every bad shot they take. sure, it is a competative sport, but i doubt i will ever get to that level at all. i would love however to get good enough to at least keep up with anyone (potential customers) that i play with.

i started takin lessons wed & the guy said he could tell im a really fast learner & asked me if i was sure that i hadnt played golf before even though in my mind i sucked

I saw your pictures on TW live. Unbelievable shot, got you directly between the eyes:eek: Adam must have felt awful about that. One inch either way and it could have been a lot worse. Glad your OK.

Honestly, lessons are the way to go. You will see a faster improvement with lessons as the golf pro can spot what you're doing wrong, where you won't.
I've played golf my whole life and I enjoy it.

Rule #1- Like other members said, Have FUN! this is a VERY frustrating sport. I firmly believe that you just have bad golf days. Some days you're better, and some days you're not.

Rule #2, keep your left arm straight(or your right are for lefties) and follow through hitting the ball.

Rule #3- If your grip on the golf club is right hand over left, then reverse that grip when you putt. i.e. when you putt, you'll have left hand over right(and right hand over left for the lefty players). And keep your left arm straight as well. By doing this, your going to hit the ball straight just about every time.

And practice putting a lot too. Learn how to read the greens, because every green is going to be slightly different.

Thae best way to improve your game is to work at a golf course part time and get free range balls and play golf for free..you will play more often and practice more because its free. Plus you might even play with some of the pros that work there too and they can teach you little things here and there without paying for a lesson:D

The easiest thing to do is simply take a little money and get a couple lessons.. anyone can sit and tell you what to do but if you have someone there to help correct the little things it will do wonders.. it is also about practice.

I just picked up golf, too. Sort of. I'm practicing how to drive the balls first then eventually go to a golf course. Where do you guys put your clubs? In the back seat or truck bed?
