Got this cheezy switch with a harness that came with a lightbar. I want to change out the switch for something that looks nicer. My question is how easy is it to swap this out for something that fits the switch blank spot on the left of the steering wheel? The current switch has 3 wires plugged into a connector. All the switches I see on Amazon are 5 pin. Would it be compatible?

This is what I want :

Below is what I've got now...

Should not be a problem, just cut the connector off the harness and follow the instructions that come with the new switch.
What you need is 12volt positive from battery, 12 volt negative and a line to power your lights.

oh by the way the negative is for the Led

Just tap the illumination for pins 3 and 4. Pin 1 is power source and pin 2 is from your accessory. 20161024_131837.jpg

Thanks. Sounds easy enough. It's fine to have unused connections on the back of the switch I take it?

Thanks but over my head. My total experience with lighting is running the existing harness that needed no tapping or splicing. Screwed on a relay and ran the wires where they needed to go.

The yellow wire on the current switch connects to the white wire coming off the relay.

    If that matters...

Just for the signal from the relay I imagine.

So based on the above responses I'm guessing that if I only connected the three wires without tapping anything, I wouldn't have a lighted switch when my dash lights were on but everything else would still work?
