Hey fellow TW’ers, I need some input feedback.

As my truck is often my office, I’ve become enamored with the concept of Apple CarPlay. I’ve discussed HU’s with a few folks. Most have pointed me to the Apline ILX-107, good UI and wireless CP.

Now I’m learning about the iDataLink Maestro RR. It sounds as though it’s added functionality is a function of both vehicle and head unit. Is this correct?

Can anyone that has installed this HU provide me with any feedback? More specifically, can anyone that installed this with the Maestro RR speak to overall functionality?

Thx in advance. (I should add my 2010 DCLB 4x4 has JBL system currently...if that changes anything)

Idatalinks website has all the info you need. The maestro retains all/most of the factory features that would be lost by simply just swapping the radio. It also connects to the OBD/diagnostic port to give you vehicle info on the headunit. If I were you I would contact them directly about the jbl system and the maestros compatibility.

Personally I would lean more towards a kenwood headunit.

Thx for the link...super helpful. I’m more than a bit ashamed my awesome inter web skills didn’t find it on their own. ;)

I’m curious about your Kenwood lean. I’m pretty agnostic. I’ve owned alpine (long ago)and Kenwood. Mostly my alpine preference had to do with the wireless CarPlay. All of this is to say, i can be persuaded.

I would wait a little longer to purchase a unit specifically for wireless CarPlay, give them some time to work out any bugs.

At the end of the day its all about personal preference, as far as brands go.

i got the ilx-107 with idatalink maestro rr installed and can confirm that all vehicle settings (lights, locks, etc.) are still accessible

i swapped out the 107 for the 207 a week later but that’s a different story...
