    I went 2 years on greens in my last truck and didn't see much wear on the pads.

    The yellows just aren't worth the money. Do they stop better? I'm sure but how often are you stopping that fast to need to see a difference in a few feet off your 60-0 times? I can't tell you I see a difference because I just don't slam on my breaks, ever. They create more dust, wear out faster and cost twice as much. I just don't use them for what they are intended for.

    Now the reason I switched was because I was thinking I don't drive my truck but maybe 5k miles a year so longevity over time should be fine so why not get "the best" and enjoy the benefits when I do drive. But once again, I never brake hard enough to enjoy them anyway so now, it makes no sense to me.

    Buy them if you think on a daily basis your truck just doesn't stop fast enough. Based on how I drive, I found the dimpled/slotted rotors to make a noticeable difference. I found the yellow pads to not.

    Stock shackles fit dakars, just have to get the correct bushings. Or you can spend $50 or whatever and get the greasable shackles, which work perfectly with Dakars

    I do have the yellow pads (came with the stage 5, got during huge discount also). I like them with the weight of the truck offroad on steep hillsides. I cant vouch that they are "required" by any means. BUT after I wear these out (they've been on the truck for about 2 years) I may try the green, that way I will have had both and can pick which one I like best.

    I have no experience with running them. Just bought it last night. Ha ha. This is what I can tell you.

    When someone tears a boot and buys a new axle, Toyota gives a $75 core refund in exchange for the damaged axle. They take that axle, strip it down, and rebuild it with new OEM parts.

    Mine looks like this. Literally looks brand new.

    I turned in and old axle I had laying around, so the $275 reman cost me $200 plus tax.


    I don't think there is any advantage to buying this over rebuilding your own with OE boots. I did it because I wanted to keep my current leaking one and rebuild it for a spare. If you don't want a spare, you could rebuild your own and have the same thing I bought for $33 plus whatever the grease costs.

    Pick one
    • spend $200, turn in your old one for the core, and skip the messy work of rebuilding
    • spend $33 plus grease and rebuild yourself
    • Spend $275 for the reman and keep your current one to rebuild for a spare

    And I looked at drilled/slotted and was afraid of mud buildup. Considered dimpled rotors, but cost beat them out.
